I like to think myself a true car guy. i love the advancements that this industry has made, and in more recent times, how fast they have been made. The Toyota Prius has been a class leader when it comes to hybrid vehicles. So, what happens when other cars such as the Tesla Model 3 begin to enter and begin to dominate that market segment? It is high time we take a look and see how the Toyota Prius really competes against the Tesla Model 3.

I was once told that if I wanted to be a true car guy that I would embrace all forms of automotive creativity. I once shuddered at this, but have come to realize that through failure, we breed success. Here is why I believe "car guys" loathe the Toyota Prius.

When it comes to innovation, there are products out there which actually do enhance the way our vehicles perform. However some of these products were developed in a time when technology was not nearly advanced as we see today. Now companies like K&N are still selling "performance" products under false pretenses. These claims are deceiving Toyota Prius owners into thinking they are helping their car when really they are hurting it.

There is no doubt about it. The car that has made humankind rethink the automobile for the 21st century is the Toyota Prius. While I am sure to get some serious opinions on this, I think we should take a look and see why.

Toyota Prius oil consumption issues are a hot topic. Like hotter than black leather seats on a summer day. I recently was put in touch with a company called BG Products who has claimed their "hybrid" repair kit will solve these issues. I am 1000 miles into my oil change and here is what I have noticed so far.

There are a flood of Toyota Prius cars that are on the road today. In these generations of cars we see that there are anywhere from 28 to 32 battery modules that make up the hybrid battery. The HV batteries are aging but the owners are so in love with the car, they do not want to junk them. With many repair and refurbish places creeping up all the time, these battery modules will eventually get too worn out to use again. My thoughts are that this market will not die, but evolve, and here is how.

While I will absolutely tout the Toyota Prius as being a top choice for buying new and used, it is not invincible. What most Prius owners think is that they need to find a "mechanic" who can "fix" the car for "cheap" when things do happen. If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one. Here is what you need to know when looking for the right person to fix your vehicle.

It should come as no surprise that when it comes to owning the hybrid segment, Toyota has everyone beat. There may be quite a few who disagree with me but, honestly, numbers just do not lie. Here is how the Honda Clarity stacked up against the Prius Prime.

If I were making a recommendation of a car to a friend who was interested in buying a used EV, I would definitely choose a Chevy Volt. Here's why.

If you feel your Toyota Prius is on the last leg of the mortal journey it is on, you may be considering putting it out to pasture. However, there may be some hidden gold inside that most people are not aware of, but thieves certainly are.

When it comes to taking care of your Toyota Prius there are hundreds of companies out there that are promising amazing results with their product. BG Products are also competing for your attention as well. With their specialized Hybrid formula they are claiming a fix of or reduction in the oil consumption that plagues our cars. I never in a million years thought I would be a Prius owner. Now that I own one, it has drastically changed the way that I view them. Recently, I was at a hybrid training and was able to spend time with all generation of the Toyota Prius. When I was able to finally spend time with Prime, it was love at first sight. The Toyota Prius is more than a car. I believe that when it was engineered, the Japanese army gave it some DNA from a tank. Even though this tank-esque car is unbelievably reliable, it still has areas that can prove to be pesky as the miles climb up and the maintenance gets avoided. Oil consumption is a known issue but why it occurs and how to avoid it are things that are fully understood, until today.

The 2004-2009 2nd Generation Toyota Prius can be known to consume engine oil. Some owners (like me) have reported anywhere from 1/2 quart or more per 1000 miles of oil use. There are a couple of reasons this can happen and one that I was not aware of till recently. The repair to do this particular one is about $12 and has been a cure for at least one of the oil consumption issues known to date.

If you were to ask most people what the first word they think of is when they hear Toyota Prius, it would probably be slow. What most people do not know is that your Prius was engineered to have boost, in order to make it faster, but maybe not in the way you think.
