Toyota announces price increases for nearly all US models

Toyota Motors recently issued their numbers for March 2011, showing that they were the only major automotive group to see a decline in March sales from 2010 and on top of that, the Japanese automaker has announced that most US models (including Scion and Lexus) will be receiving price increases.

Chevy Silverado shows its metal in heavy-duty competition

In a recent address to the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press, Tim Jackson, president of the Colorado Auto Dealers, told an assembled group of auto writers, auto dealers and Denver Auto Show producers, “Sales of the Chevy Silverado – a full-size pickup – are up 60 percent. Did you get that? Not six percent, but 60 percent – in this economy!”

Mercedes Benz recalls 137,000 M-Class SUVs for cruise control problems

Mercedes Benz is recalling 137,000 sport utility vehicles from the 2000-2004 model years over a cruise control problem that can prevent the system from disengaging the cruise control system when the brakes are applied.

Taking stock of the economy through the windshield

The economic outlook appears rosy viewed through the windshield, as manufacturer after manufacturer reports double-digit increases if not record sales last month. Chrysler reported first quarter sales up 51 percent over last year while General Motors saw a retail sales surge during the same period of over 38 percent.

GM slips from the top spot in March 2011 US sales

General Motors had a pretty good month in March 2011 with all of their American brands showing gains compared to March 2010 but in relation to the rest of the industry, GM ranked second to last in growth rate above only Toyota – dropping below Ford Motor Company in total US sales.
