Sales numbers for 2011 have taken some time but with every major automaker reporting, the Ford F Series is once again the bestselling vehicle in the American auto industry - followed by the Chevrolet Silverado and the Toyota Camry – with those three top spots mirroring the top three from the 2010 sales year.

MIT reports improved mileage of average car mileage missing

While the efficiency of modern engines has been improving for years, a study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology reports most of the efficiency went into carrying the extra weight being added to the cars American’s buy. Basically, they are stating if the engines of today were in the cars of 1980, they would go a lot farther on a gallon of gas.
