Top Gear America Premieres on the History Channel

The moment some automotive fans have been dreading and others have been gleefully anticipating happens Sunday night at 10 p.m. when Top Gear America premieres on the History Channel. It's a USA version of the immensely popular BBC's Top Gear and the Yank version (as the Brits might say) stars drifting champion Tanner Foust, comedian Adam and Rutledge Wood, who does Speed Channel’s NASCAR coverage.

While Ford heralds its Police Interceptor performance against the competition from Dodge and Chevrolet, criminals everywhere are gnashing their teeth (as are the lawyers who fear the liability caused by high-speed police chases). Ford's replacement for the ubiquitous Crown Victoria is racking up the performance numbers police officers like to see in their mobile offices.

The designers of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios surprised everyone at the 2010 Los Angeles Design challenge by presenting the 2035 Mercedes-Benz Biome. The car simply mimics the nature is fully integrated into the ecosystem following nature's example.

Mitsubishi Unveils MiEV for North America

Mitsubishi Motors has unveiled its first all-electric production vehicle, the MiEV, bound for the North American market in November 2011. The MiEV (pronounced My E V) has been produced in the Japanese market since 2009 and shown at the New York Auto Show. Its release has been long expected and the model introduced at the LA Auto Show is updated from the Japanese market version with a wider body (for us wider North Americans) and required safety features.

This is the Ford display at Charlotte International Auto Show, which Torque News visited this afternoon. Yesterday ford tweeted asking me to stop by and say hello. While visiting Ford's display at the Charlotte International Auto Show this afternoon I really loved the way they have put this game near its Fiesta model. This is indeed a great combination as it reads "Join in the movement. Get the Game." Yet, it also was a great way to attract game lowers' and those with kids' attention and come to Ford's display. Good thinking Ford.

Cheapest Cars and Trucks to Insure

Edmunds.com has released its list of the cheapest cars and trucks to insure. The list is broken down by categories like top trucks and top coupes, among others. Rankings are based on five-year projections for all models in each class generated by the Edmunds.com data team as a part of their development of Edmunds.com’s True Cost to Own values. Each model's costs were determined based on the trim level that is the least expensive to insure.

Ford Decreasing Stake in Mazda but Will Still Be Friends

Ford has announced it is decreasing its stake in Mazda but says it is committed to working with the Japanese manufacturer on strategic partnerships. The Dearborn, Mich., automaker is going to reduce its stake in Mazda from 11 percent to 3.5 percent by Nov. 19, according to a Ford statement. Ford will transfer part of its shares in Mazda to several of Mazda’s business partners.

GM History: Chevrolet Volt Concept

This Chevrolet Vold Concept image is the last point so far in GM's history. It is called Transformation. In 2007 GM unveiled Chevrolet Volt which stood out with its advanced technology and news design. Particularly Chevrolet Volt stood out with its rechargeable electric drive system.

GM History: 2008 Cadillac CTS

This 2008 Cadillac CTS came almost 100 years later after the 1st Cadillac. It marked innovation point in GM's history. This car has 304 hp V6 engine and a 40-gig internal hard drive. GM says the 2008 Cadillac will inspire new generations of auto enthusiasts.
