The Buick brand serves as a sort of midlevel brand that offers much of the luxury feel that you get from Cadillac but with a lower price. Thanks to the addition of the eAssist mild hybrid system to several vehicles in the lineup, Buick offers both power and fuel efficient models with a long list of standard amenities from base model to the top of the range.

General Motors announced today that they will invest $600 million in their Fairfax Assembly and Stamping Plant where the popular Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Malibu are built – bringing the total moneys invested in the Kansas facility since 2003 up into the range of $2.5 billion dollars.

General Motors ended 2012 in a positive note with overall growth by the company as well as with 3 of the 4 brands but more importantly, as 2012 drew to a close General Motors was able to one again claim the title of being America’s bestselling automaker – selling more cars in the US than any other automaker.

General Motors was one of the weakest auto companies in the US market in September 2012 with a year over year growth of just 1.5% but that slight increase allowed them to beat cross-town rival Ford Motor Company en route to once again being the bestselling automaker in the US by a pretty comfortable margin.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that they have upgraded their preliminary investigation of the 2006 and 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer to an engineering analysis while also adding the GMC, Buick, Saab and Isuzu, a move which could lead to a recall of 341,786 vehicles in the US.
