The Tesla “Cyberbeast” Cybertruck Face-off Against $110,000 Ford F-150 Raptor R – Ford is in Trouble, There’s a New King in Town!

Work for Torque News, follow on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.

In a new video, a Tesla “Cyberbeast” Cybertruck goes face to face against the top-of-the-line $110,000 starting price Ford F-150 Raptor R. The Cybertruck annihilates the Ford both on pavement and while driving off-road.

It has now been more than a week since Tesla finally started delivering the first Cybertrucks to customers. Cybertrucks currently making their way to customers’ hands are the first 1000 “Foundation Series” trucks with laser-etched Cyberbeast insignia and other unique features.

And as the truck finds its way to more and more people, we are starting to see the Cybertruck pitted against other vehicles in its segment.

We’ve seen the Cybertruck in “Beast Mode” going toe-to-toe against the Rivian R1T and Hammer EV. In that comparison, the Cybertruck was able to break the speed record for pickup trucks.

We’ve also seen the Cybertruck in the hands of automotive journalists and YouTubers. During Hagerty’s Cybertruck review, the truck takes on a go-kart race track. In the review video, you can see Cybertruck utilizing its breakthrough steer-by-wire system to make children’s play of the track’s tight turns.

In Hagerty’s video, we’ve also learned about all the groundbreaking engineering advancements that have rolled out with the Cybertruck. These include the 48-volt architecture, high bandwidth ethernet cable wiring, steer-by-wire system, and so many other “under the hood” breakthroughs.

Tesla’s advancement to 48-volt architecture is so crucial that the EV maker sent out a “How to design a 48-volt vehicle” guide to all automotive CEOs. Ford CEO Jim Farley yesterday confirmed that he has received his copy of the how-to Tesla guide which promoted Elon Musk to respond.

MKBHD, now that it has been a few days from his blockbuster Cybertruck review, has also released his second Cybertruck impressions video where he discusses what he liked and disliked about the truck.

All of these Cybertruck takes have all been exciting, however, the biggest one we’ve all been waiting for was to see how the Cybertruck stacks up against the unofficial king of all pickup trucks which is the $110,000 37-inch tire massive off-roady Ford F-150 Raptor R.

The F-150 Raptor R is the top-of-the-line truck in Ford’s pickup lineup and is powered by a 5.2L Supercharged V8 that can output 700 horsepower, 650 pound-feet (868 Newton-meters) of torque and comes standard with robust off-road suspension plus 37" all-terrain tires with forged aluminum wheels.

To put it bluntly, this is the best Ford can create when it comes to pickup trucks. So how does it compare with the new tri-motor Tesla “Cybertrbeast” Cybertruck?

Going simply by the numbers, the Cybertruck Cyberbeast has the F-150 Raptor R beat-handedly. The Cybertruck has 845 horsepower, 685 pound-feet (930 Newton-meters) of torque, 35-inch tires with an industry-leading air suspension with 12 inches of travel and 17 inches of ground clearance.

According to their respective specs, the Cybertruck appears to be ahead however, two things to keep in mind here is, first, although the Cybertruck is more powerful than the F-150 Raptor R, the Tesla truck weighs more than the Ford truck.

The Cybertruck weighs 6843 lbs whereas the Ford F-150 Raptor weighs 5959 lbs, there is almost a 900 lbs difference between the weights of these vehicles which should close the performance gap.

The second thing to keep in mind is that numbers on paper don’t necessarily reflect the reality of what’s going to happen when the vehicles are put on the ground.

So how do the two vehicles measure up against each other when put on the ground? Matt Watson from the Car Wow YouTube channel has pitted these vehicles against each other in a drag race.

In the video, you can see the Cyberbeast Cybertruck and the Ford F-150 Raptor R going on back-to-back drag races and the F-150 Raptor R is no much for the Tesla. In all 4 drag races, the Cyberbeast smokes the F-150 Raptor R.

The Cybertruck was able to finish the standing quarter mile in 11.2 seconds whereas it took the F-150 Raptor R over a second more to finish the same distance at 12.4 seconds.

The story gets even worse for the F-150 Raptor R when the vehicles are compared in a rolling drag race from 20 mph. The Cybertruck leaves the F-150 Raptor R in the dust even more significantly at higher speeds.

At this point, I can hear you saying the Ford F-150 Raptor R is an off-roading truck it doesn’t matter how the vehicle performs in a race track.

Well funny you should mention that. Matt Watson, being clever as he is, runs an additional comparison where the Cybertruck drives on a pile of dirt adjacent to the track. In this test, the Cybertruck races the F-150 Raptor R on a dirt road while the Ford is on the asphalt.

Surprisingly enough, even when given this significant advantage, the F-150 Raptor R is still unable to outrun the Cybertruck. The video is incredible and I highly recommend you watch it in its entirety although if you’re an F-150 fan I suggest you brace yourself.

After watching this video, it’s hard to justify paying $110,000 for a Ford F-150 Raptor R over the Cyberbeast Cybertruck which costs $10,000 less starting at $99,900. There doesn’t appear to be a single metric the Ford F-150 beats the Cybertruck despite costing more.

This video proves that there is a new pickup truck king in town and if I were Ford, I would be really worried right about now.

Currently, this is all the information we’ve about the performance of the two trucks however, we’ll be sure to keep you posted as more Cybertruck comparison videos are posted. Until then, make sure to visit our site torquenews.com/Tesla regularly for the latest updates.

So what do you think? Were you surprised to see the Cyberbeast annihilating the Ford F-150 Raptor R? Do you think the Cybertruck’s existence threatens Ford’s pickup truck sales? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Why would anyone pay that much for a pickup? And “which one goes faster?” is what you think is the consumer’s main concern?

This is a fanboy story.

when you spend 110k on a raptor R I think you ARE concerned by which one goes faster.
if you were concerned just by the looks like most truck buyers you would pick a lifted bro truck, slow but looking "tough"

What a stupid article about a ridiculous little test. I’m no Ford fanboy, but c’mon, this is pathetic. Everyone with half a clue about EVs know they win hands down against ICEs. This is why all supercar makers are going EV, since the torque and acceleration of any EV will smoke an ICE in a drag race.

What I want to know is why Twittler’s Cybertruck wasn’t tested against the Ford Lightening. EV vs EV. And why hasn’t anyone posted any off-road tests of the Cubertruck? I’ve seen one video and it was appallingly bad. Tire squealing on a basic dirt road? That’s crazy bad.

Instead we get what appears to be a hatchet job. I’ve never heard of Torquenews before, but based on this article I regard it as a Twittler fanboi rag that exists for giving reach arounds for a certain unhinged fascist manchild rather than a source of any relevant information. I’ll be selecting “don’t show articles from this source” on google news

Comparing internal combustion engines to electrical ones? Lol. Wait till Ford makes an electric raptor and let's see
Or compare the Tesla to the lightning?

Pretty loose definition of “off-road.” It’s no surprise that an electric vehicle will be faster than a combustion engine; that’s nothing new. This article is the same old meaningless comparison about top speed in utility vehicles. If someone wants to buy a truck for speed, that’s their prerogative. But let’s compare trucks in environments for which they’re built. Ease of loading and bed access? Driver visibility in crowded areas while towing? Nobody is buying a Raptor R because they care about its 0-60. Then again, this site is called Torque News, so we know the bias.

No there is not a new king in town. None of these tests are representative of what a truck is supposed to do. How does it handle in the cold, what's its ice and slush performance? Shove it in a muddy sloppy driveway and see how it gets out. What's it's tow rating and what's using the bed like? What's the fit and finish of the vehicles like? Comfort in driving? I'll tell you right now the Ford absolutely nukes the Tesla in both of those aspects. These are trucks not drag racers or race cars. Yes 0-60 is important but not the focus and a dirt track is not offloading.

So the Ford s a hybrid and the Tesla is an EV? If so, you forgot one important factor in you article. What is the maximum range on both vehicles with a full tank and charge? What is the fill vs charge time?

I've seen the Tesla cyber-junker offroad, not all that impressive. Tech wise, Tesla has Ford but they will catch up, the problem is the Cyber wagon will always be really ugly and a niche for eccentric buyers.
