Data Shows Over 3 Million Tesla Cybertruck Orders, And It's Not Surprising

There may be over three million paid Tesla Cybertruck orders, data sent to Torque News shows. Look at this order number, which could be good news for Tesla and six years of paid reservations for Cybertruck.

Hardly any car presentation has caused such a sensation in recent years as that of the Tesla Cybertruck. Although the model is only available in North America for the time being there are already reports of over one million pre-orders. However, this new data, shared with Torque news, shows that Tesla may already have over 3 million Cybertruck orders.

Saturday evening I received a letter from a Tesla Cybertruck reservation holder Brad Gillespie from Chicago area, who revealed some breaking information about the Cybertruck's order status, how many Cybertrucks orders Tesla may have by now and how long will it take for you to get your Cybertruck if you order today.

The number is stunning. Gillespie's Cybertruck order number reveals that Tesla may have over three million Cybertruck orders by now. And it will take Tesla 6 years to fill those orders if the electric carmaker starts producing 500,000 Cybertrucks per year from 2021. Before I go any further, let me tell you that if this data is confirmed and correct, Tesla may need several more Cybertruck gigafactories like Giga Texas to speed up the production of its electric pickup truck and fill the orders. I am stressing this because I don't know how many people will be willing to wait for six years to get their Cybertruck.

Gillespie wrote to Torque News that he paid $100 for his Cybertruck single engine on 10/12/2021, just before Tesla cut off choosing your version. He selected the $39,000 single motor version that he says he thinks Tesla will make last. "They have built the higher-priced versions first in the past. I will happily wait at the end of the list," Gillespie wrote.

Then he shared with Torque News his reservation numbers which you can see below. Also, he shared with us the starting number of Tesla reservation order numbers, which allows you to tell your place in line.

"The calculation is that I'm 3,080,644 in line to get my Cybertruck," wrote Gillespie. "Suppose they build the run rate up to half a million Cybertrucks per year. It would be up to six years before I see my $39,000 single-engine option," Gillespie wrote.

If this calculation is correct, this shows tremendous amount of interest for the Cybertruck.

Over 3 million Cybertruck orders. This shows a much higher-paid reservation demand than anyone else is reporting.

Are you surprised? I am not. Tesla has left no automotive enthusiast ignorant about the Cybertruck. You can like it or dislike its unusual and innovative design, but you can't ignore it. Also, I am not surprised to see such a huge reservation order number because the cost of the reservation is only $100. That's a not a big amount and thus a lot of people risk that small amount to reserve their place in line for the Tesla Cybertruck, whether they end up buying, canceling their order or purchasing a competitor truck such as the Rivian R1T or the F-150 Lightning.

In case you are a Cybertruck reservation holder, here is how to see when you will get your Tesla Cybertruck order.

Until then, two constrains still slow down Cybertruck's mass production. Elon Musk talked about them recently pointing out to chip shortage and battery cell constrains. However, there is good news that Tesla may have a new Cybertruck beta version getting ready for production, as Torque News Tesla reporter Jeremy Johnson discussed yesterday.

If you are a Cybertruck reservation holder, please comment below and let us know when do you think you will have your Cybertruck delivered to you. What do you think about this data? Do you think Tesla may indeed have over 3 million Cybertruck orders?

$100 REFUNDABLE deposit is not very accurate gauge. Of course I put it down but my wife finds the truck hideous so I will likely cancel at some point. As will tens of thousands of other people as well. Not to say it will not be successful... 2-3 years from now!

I’m around 7k, maybe lower if people from other countries ordered before me. I hope to have it next year if they work out the battery and production hurdles they are facing with this entirely new technology.

You really think GigaTexas can produce 500,000 CyberTrucks per year? Maybe in 2-3 years they can approach that number. I think Elon should build another Gigafactory just for CyberTrucks. I will even donate my backyard! Well, it's only about 200sqft but it's a start!

No it is not over 3 million. The order number is used by Tesla for every product they produce, not just Cybertrucks. There is more like 1.2 million.

I ordered mine on day one as soon as Elon Musk said you can order online now and I am 20,063 and hopefully they start building in 2022 because I need a new truck now…. As far as 3 Million orders? Maybe globally, maybe not but I would never doubt anything Tesla…

I am order number RN114914769 and there were about 400K in front of me. Elon just announced 250K per year to start but my lease on my 3 is up Sept, 2023 so not sure I can wait any longer. Will have to settle for the F-150 to start with

Mr. Christopher. I ordered slightly before you. I’m at 114760200. But based on my order number I’m 154k spots ahead of you and my math put me at the 2,016,000 spot or so. How did you come up with the numberi of only having about 400k people in front of you? Genuinely curious sir.
