These Are Some of The Most Popular Mods 2024 Toyota Tundra Owners Do

Owners on Facebook, Reddit, and other forums share the most popular 2024 Toyota Tundra aftermarket mods.

Toyota's third-generation Tundra continues to be a solid pick among full-size pickup trucks. There is much to love about the current iteration of the Tundra, which was first unveiled late in 2021. The design is strikingly similar to the concept model, which was one of 16 Toyota and Lexus concept models introduced in December 2021.

Like other pickup trucks, Toyota Tundra owners are keen on modifying their trucks and making them truly their own. I delved into various groups and chats on Facebook and Reddit, including the public group, 2023-2024 Toyota Tunda Owners and a Reddit threat on "Mandatory mods” for the Toyota Tundra.

If you are a Toyota Tundra owner, there is a good chance you already have some of these mods done or maybe you are looking for suggestions. If so, I have gathered information and listed all the mods below. If you think there is more to add, feel free to share your opinions in the comment section below.

Retractable bed cover

There is popular belief that all pickup trucks should come as standard with a bed cover. Sadly, Toyota Tundra doesn't offer one as standard, but Toyota is more than happy to sell you one as a separate accessory. While many agree this should be a no-cost feature, the aftermarket is full of good options for tonneau bed covers, including brands like Peragon and of course, Toyota OEM accessories. There are plenty of options and prices range from $143 for cheap, roll-up options to $1,500 for high-end, hard tonneau covers with a key lock.

Chrome-delete kit

Your 2024 Toyota Tundra has too much bling for your taste? That's okay. Chrome delete kits are available from brands like AJT Design. Anything from interior trim to front grille can be de-chromed. Going with a wrap is another way to go about de-chroming your Toyota pickup truck. It gives you more customization options regarding finish, but not every owner is fond of wrapping the factory chrome pieces.

All-terrain tires and aftermarket wheels

The 2024 Toyota Tundra comes, as standard, with a choice of 18-inch wheels for the SR and SR5 trims or 20-inch wheels for the Limited and Platinum trims. As far as tires go, however, only the Tundra TRD Pro comes standard with all-terrain tires, those being the Wildpeak AT3wA. If you plan on regularly going off the beaten path in your 2024 Toyota Tundra, swapping the factory tires for all-terrain pieces is highly recommended.

TRD suspension

Depending on the trim and suspension options, the 2024 Toyota Tundra features a ground clearance of 8.5 to 9.4 inches. The 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro scores bespoke suspension that's 2.0 inches higher than the rest of the Tundra trim levels. Luckily, the TRD suspension is available for purchase and can be installed on other Tundra trim levels, giving the truck a more aggressive stance, especially with all-terrain tires, as well as making it more versatile.

Screen protector

The 2024 Toyota Tundra comes standard with a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen. One annoying trait of most of these multimedia systems is the accumulation of fingerprints. Many owners, annoyed by this, recommend screen protectors.

Options are plentiful and come as cheap as $16. Another option is maintaining your touchscreen by using cleaning products. Some owners warn that ammonia-based products may ruin your touchscreen, so beware of that. One Reddit used suggests using a special screen cleaner, which works for TV screens.

Stereo system upgrade

The 2024 Tundra's standard stereo features a nine-speaker stereo, but there is an optional, 1,200-watt, JBL Premium Audio system with 12 speakers. Some owners prefer to upgrade their system. Needless to say, options are plentiful.

Under-seat storage

While the 2024 Tundra offers some storage options, there are plenty of aftermarket solutions for rear under-seat storage boxes, allowing you to boost your Toyota Tundra truck's utility factor. Companies like ESP Truck offer high-end solutions in the form of lockable storage boxes that look factory.

Ceramic coating

Ceramic coating for cars has been a thing since the 1990s. Sadly, car manufacturers are not bothered with applying it due to minimizing costs. Luckily, there are aftermarket options. Many Toyota Tundra owners opt for ceramic coating as it forms a protective, hydrophobic layer over the paint clear coat. This is especially useful if you plan on spending time off-road. A ceramic coating typically has a longevity of two to five years.

Sound insulation kit

Some owners of the 2024 Toyota Tundra report excessive wind noise coming from the front section of the doors. Luckily, there are solutions from companies like SoundSkins Global, which will sell you vehicle-specific, sound-deadening kits, along with the tools needed to install them.
