Interest is building as we await the arrival of the refreshed 2020 Toyota Tacoma. Here are the top reasons you just might want to buy one.

The nation’s best-selling midsize truck just got a little more tempting to prospective buyers and a little more intimidating to the competition. Toyota Tacoma is due for a refresh for the 2020 model year, and it is loading up on new features and technologies that should thrill everyday drivers and off-roading enthusiasts.

One of the chief areas for improvement for the 2019 Tacoma and prior years was the need for improved convenience and technology. Tacoma is as reliable and dependable as they come, and it can be counted on for hundreds of thousands, if not over a million, miles. However, it was important to add important updates to these key areas.

Here are key highlights for the new 2020 Toyota Tacoma and why you may have no choice but to buy one.

All 2020 Toyota Tacoma grades get updates

The beauty of this 2020 model year refresh is that all of the Tacoma trim levels will receive updates and upgrades. No model left behind.

Whether you are staying budget-savvy with the SR grade or whether you have your sights set on the Limited or TRD Pro, you will more than likely be getting many exterior and interior updates. Most Tacoma models will receive modernized wheels and grilles, among many other great features.

Larger multimedia screens for Tacoma

All 2020 Tacoma grades will feature larger multimedia screens so they can see audio/music, phone calls, navigation and vehicle information. The SR grade super-sizes to a 7” touch screen, while all other Tacoma trucks will have 8” screens.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in all 2020 Tacoma trucks

For those technology buffs who have called for sweeping improvements in multimedia use, get ready to be a little bit excited. When you buy your new 2020 Tacoma, regardless of trim level, you will be immediately equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Alexa compatibility. Tacoma life just got much easier.

2020 Tacoma TRD Pro will turn heads

The TRD Pro will be a hot ticket item heading into Tacoma’s release this fall. For many reasons. First, its off-roading capabilities get a boost with retuned FOX shocks, which will help absorb harsher impacts and offer smooth rides at highway speeds. Also, look for new 16” wheels that are over 4 pounds lighter than the previous 2019 Tacoma wheels.

Other exterior improvements are new TRD Pro LED headlights with sequential turn signals, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights, as well as black insert taillamps.

Oh, and there is that other matter of color choices. Army Green is the new exclusive TRD Pro color. You can also choose Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and Magnetic Gray.

Tacoma Panoramic and Multi-Terrain Monitors

That time when you failed to see that stump you drove over. Or when you pulled much closer than you planned to that light pole in the grocery store parking lot. Or the time you could not see for sure that you were too close to construction barrels along the side of your lane.

Most of these incidents can be severely lessened with the addition of cameras placed all around your new 2020 Toyota Tacoma. These will allow you to see in front of, along the sides of, behind, and even below your truck. Expect these revolutionary monitors (one or the other or both, depending on grade level) either standard or optional on TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro.

Did you just say power driver’s seat on 2020 Tacoma?

It may seem like a small detail, but it is very important to comfort and convenience. Two aspects of driving Toyota happens to take very seriously. This is also the most common request I hear from truck owners and shoppers in the market for new rides: a power driver’s seat for Tacoma.

All trim levels SR5 and above (standing ovation time) will feature standard 10-way (not 6-way or even 8-way) power driver’s seat. The Tacoma morning commuters thank you. Drivers taking long road trips thank you. And, off-roaders looking for that next barely-driven trail thank you. We can all ride in comfort now.

2020 Tacoma TRD Pro -- wow!

I said 7 reasons so I need a 7th reason

There are so many additional exterior and interior improvements that it only makes sense to group a few of them into this last section. I mean, my story title DID say 7.

Look for smart key auto open features on both driver and passenger doors for all levels TRD Sport and above. New taillamp designs SR and up. Available LED headlamps TRD Sport and above.

Now what do you think?

I have heard plenty of feedback on the upcoming 2020 Toyota Tacoma, both from my Torque News readers and my Toyotajeff YouTube channel viewers. Most people are very excited and cannot wait until the first ones arrive at their local dealerships. A majority of the buzz is, of course, about the Army Green TRD Pro Tacoma.

What do you think, though? Are you looking forward to this refreshed 2020 Tacoma? Do you think you will be in the market for a new truck in the next year? Will these updates to Tacoma bump up your timeline a little?

Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story where I discuss the top 2020 Toyota Tundra updates to expect very soon.

And one reason not to... the powertrain. The engine is tired, and the 6 spd transmission responds poorly, and slow to downshift.

Wish these updates would have addressed this flaw.

Be leery of the new Tacomas , as I'm sure they will have the same frame rust problems that have plagued them for years , and they will do anything they can to get out of fixing them.I have an '07 Tacoma with 88k miles and was never notified about any frame problems. When I was changing the oil ,I noticed grease fittings on my driveshafts , I was greasing them when I saw something on my frame that did not look right , I found that the bottom of my frame rails are rusting out and separating on both sides , right beside my gas tank on one side. I called the local Toyota where my truck was originally purchased and was told that I missed the deadline by a few months to get a free frame replacement, but they will put a shorter gas pedal and new leaf springs on my truck , as those recalls never end . This will be my last Toyota product as I think they are a very disceitful and dishonest company !
