We have breaking news of the latest updated Cybertruck designs spotted at the Fremont factory for Tesla. The photos and the video look great and there is even a giant windshield wiper for the front of the truck. One giant wiper. Here are the changes in the design of the new and updated Tesla Cybertruck.

Latest Cybertruck Design Spotted at Tesla Fremont

We've just received word of new Cybertruck designs spotted at Tesla's Fremont CA factory. I love the new look of the Cybertrucks! Here's what I'm seeing:

A Giant Windshield Wiper on the Front

There is a GIANT windshield wiper on the side of the front of the car. It looks like this one wiper will cover cleaning duties for the entire windshield. A Twitter comment even joked about it being a post apocalyptic feature of the Cybertruck and that it could clear zombies off the windshield.

I wonder what the maintenance of that windshield wiper would be if there is a problem. Would Tesla have a lot of spare wipers around their service centers in case something goes wrong? How much would it cost to fix? These are questions we don't know the answer to yet.

Blue Tape on the Cybertruck

The blue tape is likely used for quickly routing test sensor cables or wires. It could be something like kapton tape.

Kapton tape is used for anything involving an electrical field. It can be used as insulation and that includes capacitor and transformer insulation, coil insulation, and magnetic wire insulation. Kapton tape can also be used during powder coatings and will act as a temperature mask.

This would make sense as the Cybertruck is still being tested and calibrated before release.

A Giant Curved Windshield

There appears to be a curved windshield and I am wondering how the giant windshield wiper will handle this. Perhaps it will be flexible enough to bend to the shape of the windshield.

It also looks like it might be really expensive to replace if it gets cracked. Will this be something that Tesla service centers are able to handle with millions of Cybertrucks and how much will it cost? Questions we don't yet know the answer to.

There are Still Mirrors

There are still mirrors on the front sides of the Cybertruck. My guess as to why this is is for regulation purposes. Because the test trucks can't yet be called full self-driving and regulation at this point in time requires mirrors. I could see this changing in the future, but I think that's why they are there now.

Elon Musk had this to say about the mirrors and the windshield wiper:

The Flatbed Goes Down In a Straight Line

The flatbed portion of the truck gradually descends in a straight line to what looks like a possible option for some kind of gate at the back of the truck. This could allow for having the flatbed closed off and being able to put items into it for storage, or to attach a camper or for the attachment of the Cyberlandr to be easier.

It also looks like it has a shorted bed. Is this version of the truck shorter? I've heard comments on Twitter saying it could be up to 10 inches shorter, which would mean better handling and performance.

No Curved Frames

The front of the Cybertruck may have a slightly curved frame, but other than that, it's all straight lines here.

This is one of my favorite features of the Cybertruck - both from a functional and a Tesla stock investor point of view. By not having a curved frame over the tires or anywhere else on the truck, this will simplify the design and production of the Cybertruck and make it simpler to produce. I am all for simplicity.

No Door Handles

There is also no door handles, adding proof to the fact that the Tesla will be opened electronically and not require any use of door handles.

Here are additional things found with this new version of the Cybertruck:

My final thought is where are the cameras for full self-driving (FSD) going to be. I'm not seeing them anywhere on the truck here. We'll have to wait for when the Cybertruck gets closer to release for that.

What do you think of these new Cybertruck designs? Are they an improvement over the old look? Are we on track for a late 2022 release?
