A new report from iSeeCars gives an overall score factoring in all three areas, and here are the Subaru models ranked from best to worst.

1.Subaru Impreza hatchback
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Impreza compact hatchback an over score of 8.6/10. The Impreza gets 8.0/10 for reliability, 8.7/10 for value retention, and 9.0/10 for safety. Impreza is the number one ranked compact wagon, number one most reliable wagon, and number three of the five safest wagons.

What is the 2023 Impreza fuel mileage?

The EPA says the 2023 Subaru Impreza hatchback gets 28/36 city/highway and 31 mpg combined mpg in the non-Sport CVT trims. The 2023 Impreza 5-Door hatch with the 5-speed manual gearbox gets 24/31 city/highway mpg and 26 combined mpg. The 2023 Impreza Sport hatch CVT gets 27/35 city/highway mpg and 30 combined mpg.

2. Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Crosstrek hybrid an over score of 8.6/10. The Hybrid gets 7.1/10 for reliability, 8.7/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. Crosstrek hybrid is the number one ranked plug-in Hybrid, number two of twenty-one best hybrid SUVs, and number two of twenty-one safest hybrid SUVs.

What is the 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid fuel mileage?

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid gets the best fuel mileage. In Consumer Reports testing, the plug-in Hybrid gets 38/45 city/highway MPGe and 42 combined MPGe. Note that the Crosstrek Hybrid is not available in all states.

3. Subaru Outback
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Outback midsize SUV an over score of 8.8/10. The Outback gets 8.4/10 for reliability, 8.0/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. Outback is the number two of sixty-one best crossover SUVs, number two best small SUVs, and number two of twenty-four safest SUVs.

The EPA fuel mileage rating of the 2023 Outback XT 2.4-liter turbo is 22/29 city/highway mpg and 25 combined mpg. The estimated fuel economy of the standard 2.5-liter engine is 26/32 mpg city/highway and 28 combined mpg. The EPA says the 2023 Outback Wilderness gets an estimated 21/26 city/highway mpg and 23 combined mpg.

4. Subaru Impreza sedan
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Impreza sedan an over score of 8.6/10. The Impreza gets 8.0/10 for reliability, 8.7/10 for value retention, and 9.0/10 for safety. Impreza is number four of the twenty-five best small cars, number four of the twenty-five most reliable small cars, and number eleven of the twenty-five best gas mileage small cars.

What is the 2023 Impreza sedan fuel mileage?

The 2023 Subaru Impreza gets 31 mpg combined city/highway and 28/36 city/highway mpg in the non-Sport CVT trims. The 2023 Impreza 4-Door sedan gets 26 combined city/highway and 23/31 city/highway mpg in the non-Sport CVT trims. The 2023 Impreza 4-Door sedan with the 5-speed manual gearbox has the same fuel mileage.

5. Subaru Forester
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Forester compact SUV an over score of 8.7/10. The Forester gets 8.1/10 for reliability, 8.1/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. Forester is number four of the twenty-four best small SUVs and number four of sixty-one safest SUVs.

The 2023 Subaru Forester compact SUV gets an EPA-estimated 29 combined mpg and 26/33 city/highway mpg. The Forester comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine.

The EPA says the Forester Wilderness gets an estimated 25/28 city/highway mpg and 26 combined mpg.

6. Subaru Legacy
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Legacy midsize sedan an over score of 8.6/10. The Legacy gets 8.1/10 for reliability, 7.8/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. Legacy is number four of the thirteen best midsize cars, number four of the thirteen safest midsize vehicles, and number seven of the thirteen best gas mileage midsize cars.

What is the 2023 Legacy fuel mileage?

The EPA says the Legacy XT 2.4-liter turbocharged engine returns EPA mileage figures estimated at 24 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 27 combined mpg. The standard naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-4 engine gets an EPA estimated fuel economy of 27/35 mpg city/highway and 30 combined mpg.

7. Subaru BRZ
iSeeCars gives the Subaru BRZ sport coupe an over score of 7.8/10. The BRZ gets 7.9/10 for reliability, 7.6/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. BRZ is number five of the fourteen best sports cars, number eight of the fourteen most reliable cars, and number five of the fourteen best gas mileage sports cars.

The 2023 Subaru BRZ with the 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated Boxer engine gets an EPA-estimated 20/27 city/highway mpg and 22 combined mpg with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The BRZ with a CVT automatic transmission gets 21/30 city/highway mpg and 25 combined mpg.

8. Subaru Crosstrek 
iSeeCars gives the Subaru Crosstrek an over score of 8.1/10. The Crosstrek gets 5.6/10 for reliability, 8.7/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. Crosstrek is number two of eighteen best subcompact SUVs, number eleven of sixty-one safest crossover SUVs, and number seven of eighteen best gas mileage subcompact SUVs.

What is the 2023 Crosstrek fuel mileage?

The Subaru Crosstrek uses direct injection on its new 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine and gets 27/34 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg. The 2.0-liter engine gets 28/33 mpg and 30 combined mpg with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic, contributing to better mileage.

9. Subaru WRX
iSeeCars gives the Subaru WRX sports car an over score of 8.4/10. The WRX gets 7.0/10 for reliability, 9.3/10 for value retention, and 10/10 for safety. WRX is number six of the twenty-five best small cars, number fifteen of the twenty-five most reliable small cars, and number fourteen of the twenty-five safest small cars.

What is the 2023 WRX fuel mileage?

The 2023 Subaru WRX with the new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine gets an EPA-estimated 19/26 city/highway mpg and 22 combined mpg with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The WRX with a CVT automatic transmission gets 19/25 city/highway mpg and 21 combined mpg.

2023 Subaru Ascent
iSeeCars has not rated the Ascent. U.S. News Cars updated its rankings and says the 2023 Subaru Ascent is now one of the best new 3-Row SUVs for its reliability. U.S. News reports the Ascent gets a predicted reliability score of 8.0/10 and says, "The family-hauler offers great reliability and comfort to boot. Beyond its predicted reliability, the Ascent's value proposition is strong, as it's one of few midsize SUVs with all-wheel drive by default."

What is the 2023 Ascent fuel mileage?

The 2023 Subaru Ascent base and Premium trim levels get an EPA-estimated 21/27 city/highway mpg and 23 combined mpg. Because they are slightly heavier, the Ascent Limited and Touring trim levels get an EPA-estimated 20/26 city/highway mpg and 22 combined mpg.

2023 Subaru Solterra
