Subaru Gets Shut Out Of Vincentric Best Value In America Awards Now For The 3rd Year

Which car brands and models are the lowest cost-to-own? Check out the Vincentric 2024 Best Value In America Award winners and see why Subaru gets shut out for the third consecutive year.

The Vincentric 2024 Best Value In America Awards were announced, and Subaru was shut out again in 2024. I cover the awards annually, and it’s now the third consecutive year Subaru gets no awards. It’s been since 2021 when the Outback midsize SUV received an award. Check out the category winners here and why Subaru received no recognition again.

Every year, Vincentric measures the lowest cost-of-ownership among car brands and segments to determine its Best Value In America Awards.

Vincentric measures the lowest cost of ownership using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees, taxes, financing, fuel, maintenance, insurance, opportunity cost, and repairs. A statistical model identified winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price.

The 2024 Crosstrek subcompact SUV, 2024 Outback midsize SUV, 2024 Subaru Forester compact SUV, and 2024 Ascent 3-Row SUV do not rank highest in their category.

The Hyundai Kona Electric takes the top subcompact SUV spot, the Toyota RAV4 Prime wins the compact SUV, and the Toyota Venza is the midsize SUV winner.

Toyota wins the best passenger car brand, SUV, Ford takes the best truck brand, Lexus is the luxury car brand winner, Tesla is the best luxury SUV brand, and Toyota wins the SUV and Van brand award.

Why does Subaru get shut out again?

MY TAKE

Many electric and Hybrid models are winning the Vincentric Best Value In America Awards again this year—Subaru has no Hybrid models in its lineup and only one electric model, the Solterra. Subaru has new hybrid models on the drawing board, but they will be available for U.S. customers in 2025-2027. The 2025 Forester Hybrid is coming next.

Subaru is playing the catch-up game by offering new hybrid all-wheel-drive models. They are coming, but the next-generation Forester Hybrid is still one year away.

Would you more likely buy a Subaru SUV if they offered the Outback, Forester, and Ascent in Hybrid trim levels? Let us know in the comment section below.

I am a loyal Outback owner but I will not buy another Subaru unless an 2025 Hybrid Outback is available very soon.

This push for everyone to be driving hybrids and ev's is out of control. Furthermore, it's wild that the hybrids and ev's are getting awarded for being the best value/most affordable when all of them are more expensive to own, have more maintenance issues and cost more to maintain. I just gag whenever I look at a best of 2023 or 2024 list (from any site) and the knock against Subaru is not offering a hybrid or electric trim. If I were Subaru I wouldn't waste my time with ev's. Not practical nor sustainable and in the next 5 to 10 years perhaps the world will finally wake up. The idea that everyone wants an ev is laughable. The idea that theyre so much better on the environment is equally laughable.

I agree Brandon. It’s a shame that the media is pushing this agenda. I will drive an older vehicle and do what it takes to keep it on the road before I am pushed into an EV. Just bought a 2024 Crosstrek so I am sure I can hold out for quite a few years :)
