Stellantis Creates Charging Division Ahead of the 2025 Ram 1500 REV Launch

Ram's parent company has created a charging division called Free2Move Charge so that EV customers cans set up their home charging systems.

Stellantis is jumping into the home charging arena with a new division called Free2move Charge. The company is also launching a new motto called-eABC meaning Easy to Always Be Charged. The automaker is already marketing electric Ram ProMaster vans. A 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona EV is expected next year,  and fans are already lining up to buy the 2025 Ram 1500 REV BEV. Jeep has several 4xe electrified versions of its popular Jeep models like the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.

 

Free2move Charging Systems

Stellantis describes Free2move Charge as a “Complete charging ecosystem aims to deliver seamless electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy management for customers.”

 

“As the pace of mainstream EV adoption accelerates, our customers need us to be more than just a mobility provider,” said Ricardo Stamatti, senior vice president, Stellantis Charging & Energy Business Unit. “We are taking the lead in establishing a dedicated business unit that will support our bold electrification strategy and act as a natural extension of our iconic brands. Free2move Charge is the first product rolling out, exemplifying our purpose of delivering performance, value, sustainability and electrified mobility freedom for all.”

 

Free2move Charge will offer different products so that customers can choose what best fits their individual needs. Similar to systems offered by other automakers, allowing customers to choose their options should reduce overall cost of ownership.

 

Working with a Free2move e-Genius team, customers will be able to create a personalized package they can change and adapt at any time during the ownership experience, allowing it to evolve and always be tailored to their needs. e-Genuis support will be available first in Europe.

 

By removing barriers to battery-electric vehicle ownership, including charging anxiety, Free2move Charge is designed to help Stellantis meet its goals outlined in the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. The automaker intends to reach a 50% passenger-car and light-duty truck BEV sales mix in the United States by 2030.

 

Free2move Charge is Addressing Home, Business and Travel Needs

Free2move Charge Home delivers private customers support with installation, financing and warranty of home charging and other energy hardware and services. Options can range from AC charging cables and wall boxes today to future Vehicle-2-Home and Vehicle-2-Grid options. It will also offer cutting-edge features like touch-free wireless solutions and inductive robot charging under development for the future.

 

Free2move Charge Business will be a one-stop-shop platform with a full suite of charging and energy services for businesses. It will offer early-on support, estimation of initial and future running costs, right-sizing of charging infrastructure, installation, maintenance and public charging access while on the go.

 

Free2move Charge GO will coordinate access to a large network of public charging points through partners in North America. It will provide access, payment and 24-7 support.  Free2move Charge GO will eventually launch features like Plug and Charge, reservations, loyalty programs, subscriptions, prepaid packages, single invoice/billing and even deliver a charge to a requested location when needed.

Free2move Charge will be available through Stellantis’ vehicle-branded mobile apps and the new STLA SmartCockpit platform launching in 2024. The new software will deliver fast, intelligent routes and charging recommendations to customers based on their actual usage and needs. Free2move Charge will allow Stellantis customers to personalize their charging requirements and use AI to keep improving the charging experience.
