3 "Must-Haves" For Your Toyota Prius This Holiday Season

Out shopping on Black Friday? Be sure to take a look at these three products that are small investments in your Toyota Prius. They will keep you safe, and trouble-free for many miles to come.

This holiday season is not a good time for Toyota Prius problems. It is, however, a great time to invest a few dollars into your car and keep it running well.

I conjured up three items that I think are a holiday "must-have" this season. All three products have proven to help you as a Prius owner get more out of your car and extend its life. Here are three ways to invest in your Prius this holiday season.

Toyota Prius Cat Security Catalytic Converter Shield
Catalytic converter theft is a crazy black market business. It can cost a Toyota Prius owner anywhere from $2500 to $5000 to replace a catalytic converter if stolen off the car.

Cap City Muffler in Sacramento, California, invented a solution that every Toyota Prius owner absolutely needs. Cat Security. The cost of a shield is significantly less than a replacement catalytic converter, especially in California, Florida, and New York. Each of these states mandate a factory or OEM catalytic converter to be in place on the car for emissions requirements.

At roughly $389 plus tax, you can have one of these protective shields installed on your Prius. San Fransisco Toyota fits them at this price and has them in stock at all times. Cap City Muffler also sells them in house and online.

Make sure you keep your Prius safe this holiday season and get a Cat Security™ shield on your car now.

Prolong Battery Maintenance System
This product is currently under long term review with me. I will speak to the credit of it, though. It has so far proven to me that it does what it says.

We, as Prius owners, are never taught about hybrid battery maintenance. We are never taught about voltage depressions or battery phases of life either. The thing is, our batteries die for a reason. The good news is there is a way to double the life of your hybrid battery.

Prolong consumer systems from Hybrid Automotive does just that and more. The idea came from a hybrid owner, just like you and me. When is Honda Insight gave him fits, he was determined to find a solution to replacing the whole battery.

As an engineer, he figured out why the batteries fail and what can be done to help keep them working for longer. The Prolong battery charger and discharger system came from a need to keep a vehicle running longer. This system helps the battery overcome the voltage depressions that form naturally inside our hybrid cells.

Our Prius batteries will set trouble codes like the P0A80 and tell us we need to replace the pack. The Prolong system can delay that from happening with a good healthy battery. It also has been able to "fix" some cells that had aged and set trouble codes.

It is a must-have on this list for sure. I will be doing a long term study on this product once I secure another Prius that I can study. So far, though, I am impressed with it.

BG Hybrid Repair Kit
I have had a long talk with BG and this product. I have also had great results with their kit as well. My Prius works great now after using this kit. I was consuming 3 quarts of oil every 5,000 miles; I was sick over it.

Once I was able to secure the BG kit, use it and run for another 5k, I was blown away at the results. The hardest part about this kit is finding it. I promised BG that I would direct people to the dealer locator so you can get in touch with a BG representative in your area and product that way.

I am doing my part so that they can do theirs. Hopefully, someday it may be a little easier to get the product into your hands. It is worth it, though, that I can tell you for sure.

Conclusion
These products all will add value to you and your Prius. As Pete, the hybrid guy, I would strongly encourage any Prius owner to secure these products.

Thank you for reading. I hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Be safe out there this Black Friday, and I hope your Prius gets you where you need to go.

In Florida there are no car inspections for emissions. Not sure if the cat requirement is true or not but it's definitely not enforced because there are no inspections to pass.
