Ford August EV Sales Numbers Roar Strong With Massive Increase

Ford's EV push maybe controversial to some, but the company is already reaping the massive windfalls of this initiative with the company reporting a massive increase in EV related sales during the month of August

Ford Motor Company currently has three EV models available (Mach-E, Transit, and F-150 Lightning), and while ordering for this trio is still being hampered by supply chain issues, the trio still managed to help Ford record strong sales numbers for the month of August with EV sales jumping 27.3% versus where they were at roughly the same period last year.

Presence In Three Strong Segments Plays Key Role

A key reason why Ford's numbers are so impressive is because of the fact that Ford managed to have an EV entry in three hotly contested vehicle segments (SUV, Truck, and Commerical) with Ford confirming that it sold 158,088 vehicles during the month of August. That's a noticeable increase over the 124,716 units that the Blue Oval rolled out to customers during the same time in 2021.

This increase is also paired with equally strong demand, with Ford reporting that it had 76,000 retail orders for 2023 vehicles before August concluded, which is a gain of 41% versus a year ago. The bulk of this demand is focused on the EV side of the coin, with over 5,897 EVs being sold in August. That figure allowed sales to climb 307% but it's important to note that the F-150 Lightning was not a factor in the prior sales numbers.

Ford Poised To Create Even More EV Sales Growth

With this impressive sales performance, you would think that Ford would be content with resting on its heels and take in the perks of winning. But recent statements that the company has made in the past appear to confirm that it's only just getting started with Ford reps confirming that the company intends to produce 600,000 vehicles by the end of next year, with that figure eventually growing to 2 million annually by 2026.

Look for these last two figures to be bolstered by more EV entries, including more EV SUVs as Ford attempts to close the sales pincer on that particular segment of the market and use it as a rolling showcase of EV technology.
