5 New Features of the 2022 Tesla Model Y

We have a video from Tall Tesla Guy, who talks about 5 Tesla Model Y, 2022, features. There are a number of new, fancy, and fun features, so let's go over them now.

Tall Tesla Guy started with a 2020 Tesla Model Y - near the beginning of the original launch in May. He ordered it pretty close to July and got it in September. He loves the car and realized he didn't need both of his cars, so he sold his other car in lieu of getting his Model Y.

It took him from July 30 until February, 2021, to actually get his Tesla Model Y. His life worked in a way that he didn't need the car until then. Since he got this car until now, there's some major changes that happened:

Interior design: There are wood trims on some Tesla vehicles (Model 3), but his Model Y has more of a standard look. There is no longer a window for the wireless charges. The phone fits on the charger, but doesn't always connect to the charger. There is a little door in the middle of the car that slides open as well. To the untrained eye, the inside of the car looks very similar.

Auto tinted side mirrors: When you look at the mirrors, there is a line on the edge of the side mirror. The mirrors will auto dim in case someone gets behind you with their head lights and close or has their high beam head lights on.

Other Features of the 2022 Tesla Model Y

The infotainment system: There are a set of options for infotainment on the main screen that allow you to customize everything. This is more of a software update, but Tesla is constantly doing that. You can also change the color of the car on the screen. It's a neat feature to be able to customize it. The navigation and setup is relatively the same.

HVAC and bio defense mode: The 2020 version of the Tesla Model Y didn't have a bio weapon defense mode. The newest Tesla Model Y does have this feature and an HVAC system, that can be turned on in order to handle a situation where there are toxic chemicals in the air, or a skunk was hit. It's really quick to turn on and take effect.

There are air filters for the car that come in a box with a couple of different smells you can use. The filter itself is like a metal tube and that goes into a device, and then that goes into the car right on the dashboard. They last 4 to 6 weeks according to the labels.

There's also vision only with this car and no more radar. Tesla FSD is going full vision now.

There are some other updates that were not mentioned such as double-pane glass, silver trim on the steering wheel knobs, the lithium 12v battery, an improved windshield washer nozzle, an added heated wiper park, removed lumbar support for the front passenger seat, and a new AMD Rizen chip for a more responsive screen. There's also a cabin camera to detect driver awareness.

What do you think about the Tesla Model Y, 2022? Are these features upgrades and do they make the 2022 version better than the 2020 version?

For some reason my MY2022 came with the intel atom. I really wish I received the Ryzen chip.

Features? I ordered my Model Y in October 2021, expected delivery end of May. Also taking delivery of BMW i4 eDrive 40 in July (ordered March 2022). Already test drove the i4. Two completely different approaches to EV development.

BMW customer service has been far superior to Tesla. Tracking the order is simple.

These "new features" for the Model Y are unimpressive. Based on my test drive of the i4, I'll likely be trading the Model Y for the quiet, more refined (first model year) experience of the BMW i4.
