Hyundai has received an award from Autotrader for having the best non-luxury car certified preowned warranty program.

Hyundai’s 10-year long warranty has been an industry staple for some time now. Hyundai is the pinnacle of value, even brand new, since most of its cars undercut the competition while offering one of the best warranties for a new car.

Certified Pre-Owned cars are something that is seldom covered but deserves exploration. Autotrader has just awarded Hyundai for the third time in a row with the best CPO warranty program. Hyundai’s new cars are already a great value but used; it becomes a very cheap and reliable option for most families.

What is Certified Pre Owned?

So what is Certified Pre Owned? You are getting a used car with the perks of a new car. Most of these CPO cars are vehicles that just came off of a lease or low mileage trades that go through a tedious inspection process. In the case of Hyundai, its CPO cars go through a 173-point inspection. But, don’t get too caught up in the amount of “points” the inspection is. Just know that it is thorough.

Advantages of Hyundai Certified Pre Owned

The biggest reason Hyundai’s CPO program won an award three times in a row because you get the remainder of Hyundai’s 10-year 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. This program is the only way to get the balance of this legendary warranty; if you bought a Hyundai used at some random dealership, this would not be possible. You also get the remainder of the 5-year 60,000-mile limited warranty.

In most cases, you are getting a car that is thoroughly inspected and can rest assure you will not have any issues or maintenance items pop up when you drive the vehicle off the lot. Most CPO cars even come with new tires as well, so you are getting a new car experience but with a few miles on it, which means some depreciation has already taken place with the car.

Aside from some depreciation getting taken off your shoulders, CPO cars qualify for far better interest rates than traditional used cars. The APR rates may not be as low as a new car, but all of the benefits of buying CPO help justify the additional cost. And yes, CPO cars will cost more than your non-certified used cars, a 2016 CPO Tuscan will cost more to buy than a 2016 Tuscan you find on some random dealer lot that is not a Hyundai dealer. You can always check cargurus.com to see if you are getting a good deal while sorting by CPO models.

Additional benefits Hyundai offers in its CPO program is 10-year unlimited mile roadside assistance from the original service date and 0 miles. You get rental car and travel interruption reimbursement, three months of free SiriusXM, and complimentary CARFAX vehicle history report.

Hyundai Certified Pre Owned Conclusions

Buying certified preowned can make a lot of sense for your next “new” car purchase. If you ever saw a Hyundai that you liked with a lot of options but thought that was a bit much to spend, well buying that same model CPO at a discounted rate might be a great way to get a well-equipped car at an affordable price. Comment below if your next vehicle will be a certified preowned car.
