The 2022 Subaru Outback, Ascent, and Impreza have been announced, but where are the 2022 Forester and 2022 Crosstrek models? Check out why customers will see more model change delays.

The 2022 Subaru Forester and 2022 Crosstrek model changes should have been announced by Subaru of America (SOA) and arriving at retailers this summer. Where are the new models? The 2022 Subaru Outback, Ascent, Impreza, and BRZ model changes have been released, but why is Subaru slow to reveal the new 2022 Forester, Crosstrek, and WRX model changes?

Here are the complete 2022 Subaru model change updates. Click on each red link for additional model details.

The 2022 Subaru Forester has been revealed in Japan, but Subaru of America has yet to show the new model changes. The Forester gets a mild refresh in year four of its model cycle with exterior and interior upgrades. The 2022 Forester will also get a new Wilderness sub-brand trim that will launch later this year. We are expecting the 2022 models to arrive in late summer or early fall. You can read the full Subaru Report here.

The 2022 Subaru Outback has been announced, and new models are at Subaru retailers now. In the third year since its remodel, the Outback gets LED fog lights, now standard equipment on all trim levels. 2022 Outback Premium trims now feature rear ventilation in the center console for enhanced climate control throughout the cabin.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek has not been released by Subaru Corporation or Subaru of America. The 2022 Crosstrek, in the fifth year of its model cycle, will receive few changes as the 2022 Impreza announced earlier by SOA. The significant changes for Crosstrek come next year (2023 models) when the compact SUV gets a complete redesign.

The 2022 Subaru Ascent has been announced by SOA and gets no changes other than a new Ascent Onyx Edition model. Subaru will wait another year before the Ascent 3-Row family hauler gets a complete remodel for the 2023 model year.

SOA has also announced the 2022 Subaru Impreza with no upgrades. It reveals Subaru Corporation's intentions to launch the next-generation 2023 Crosstrek and Impreza together. The Impreza received a remodel in 2017, and the compact sedan and hatchback should have had a next-generation model change as a 2022 model year with Subaru's five-year life cycle. Now Subaru will launch the next-generation Crosstrek compact SUV and Impreza compact car together in early 2023.

SOA announced the 2022 Subaru Legacy at the same time as the 2022 Outback. The latest upgrades come on the Sport and Premium trims. Shoppers looking for a new sedan will find the 2022 Legacy Sport now comes standard with blind-spot detection, a power moonroof, and reverse automatic braking. The popular 2022 Legacy Premium now features rear ventilation in the center console.

SOA has teased the 2022 Subaru WRX, but no details have been revealed. SOA has been tight-lipped, but the sport-tuned WRX gets a full remodel from the ground up with a new exterior, interior, and a new 2.4-liter direct-injection turbocharged Boxer engine if reports are accurate. We expect the 2022 WRX to be uncovered this fall.

The full remodel for the 2022 Subaru WRX STI will wait another year, and the next-generation STI will likely be a 2023 model. The performance-tuned WRX STI will be announced in late 2022 and make its retailer launch in spring 2023.

SOA has announced the 2022 Subaru BRZ, and the next-generation sports coupe gets a complete remodel from the ground up. BRZ gets a new 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter Boxer engine; it's lighter and received suspension upgrades. SOA has not announced pricing, and the second-generation sports car arrives at retailers this fall.

Customers who want a 2022 Subaru Forester or 2022 Crosstrek will have to wait as Subaru Corporation has delayed production due to plant closures and global microchip shortages. The new models would usually arrive this summer, but this is far from a typical year. Stay tuned.

Strange you didn't mention the Legacy being announced in the opening paragraphs, but found the info later in the article. And no mention of the new Wilderness trim for the Outback?
