Subaru Teases A New SUV - It Makes Its Global Debut On September 15

Subaru Corporation teased a new Subaru SUV today and says it will make its global debut on September 15. Subaru will introduce the new SUV in Japan on its YouTube channel, and you can see the teaser video and more still images below.

What is the new Subaru SUV?

We think it will be the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV we’ve been waiting for.

Torque News recently reported that Japanese website BestCarWeb says the debut of the remodeled Crosstrek is coming to the Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs from November 18 through 27, 2022. The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek live reveal will likely be on Thursday, November 17, at the Subaru of America press conference.

The September 15, 2024, Subaru Crosstrek global reveal on YouTube will be right before the LA Auto Show and be the right timing for the announcement.

When will the 2024 Crosstrek be available in the U.S.?

The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek should arrive in U.S. showrooms next summer, and Subaru of America could open orders for the new models next spring.

Will Crosstrek get a new engine?

We don’t expect significant changes to the drivetrain of the 2024 Crosstrek. Subaru of America will get the Crosstrek manufactured in Japan with the 2.0-liter Boxer engine and minor upgrades to improve fuel efficiency. The Crosstrek Sport and Limited will stay with the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine, which could also get minor tweaks to improve fuel mileage.

All-new Crosstrek Wilderness

The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness is also coming and will be revealed shortly after the next-generation Crosstrek at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Crosstrek Wilderness should start production next spring and will be available to U.S. customers in late summer or early fall 2023.

The next-generation Crosstrek will grow slightly larger but stay smaller than the Forester. BestCarWeb says the next-generation model will adopt the current Levorg SGP (Subaru Global Platform) and the new inner frame structure installed in the WRX S4. Look for the Crosstrek to have more room inside and improved safety technology.

The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek global debut could be coming on September 15, and the live reveal will likely be in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Stay tuned.
