Is the 2022 Subaru BRZ already having engine problems? Check out what's happening to some owners.

The Subaru BRZ has been one of the most popular sports cars on the market since it was first introduced in 2012. The sport coupe is known for its sleek design, powerful engine, and excellent handling. But it seems that the 2022 model year could have serious engine problems.

According to a recent report from Carscoops, Subaru is currently investigating reports of engine failure in the next-generation 2022 BRZ. The report states that Subaru Corporation has received at least four reports of engine failure in the BRZ sports coupe, three of which have come from the United States.

One potential problem that owners should be aware of is the RTV silicone sealant around the oil pan. Over time, the RTV can come off and find its way into the oil pickup. This can then clog the pickup, starving the engine of oil and leading to a breakdown.

The report goes on to say that Subaru is currently working with its suppliers to try and determine the cause of the problem. So far, no recall has been issued for the BRZ, but that could change if Subaru cannot find a fix for the issue.

What does it mean for Subaru BRZ owners and customers?

So if you own a Subaru BRZ, make sure to keep an eye on the oil level and condition, and if you notice anything unusual, get it checked out by a professional as soon as possible.

Subaru BRZ customers may want to consider holding off on buying a next-generation model until the Japanese automakers can figure out what is causing the engine failures. If you own a Subaru BRZ or are considering buying one, keep an eye on this story as it develops. We will update this post as more information becomes available.

Subaru has not yet released a statement on the matter. Subaru BRZ engines have been having issues in the past, so this is not the first time this has happened. Subaru needs to find a fix for this problem quickly before it causes more damage to its reputation.

I experienced a similar failure on my BRZ this past monday (march 6th)... I was forced to do an emergency stop on the highway and get towed by roadside assistance. The car gave no signs of problem before it suddenly jutted forward and the engine seized

Same…brand new 2023 brz, less than 5,000 miles. Driving at highway speed and a repetitive knocking from the engine when the car suddenly turned off. Had to get it towed to dealership. Waiting to hear what they find.
