11 SUVs Keep Owners Happiest - Subaru Forester And Crosstrek Best Under $30K

The 2021 Subaru Forester and 2021 Crosstrek are compact SUVs that make their owners happiest. See why owners say they would repurchase them.

How do you find the best SUV that will keep you happy? A new survey from Consumer Reports (by subscription) reveals five new compact SUVs under $30,000 and six luxury models that most satisfied their owners in its latest Annual Auto Surveys.

When asked, “Would you repurchase this car if you had to do it all over again,” owners of the 2021 Subaru Forester, 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, Mini Cooper Countryman, Mazda CX-5, and Mazda CX-30 all said they would repurchase the same small SUV. Their owners were the most satisfied with their new vehicle.

The top luxury compact SUVs ranked best by owners are the Tesla Model Y, Lincoln Corsair, Volvo XC40, Porsche Macan, BMW X3, and Lexus UX.

In the same Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey, Subaru was most loved by owners more than any other mainstream automaker. Subaru also scored high in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index report.

Why should I buy a Subaru Forester?

The Subaru Forester scored a 5 out of 5 in predicted owner satisfaction, and CR says there are six reasons why. The compact SUV “delivers a combination of a roomy interior, excellent visibility, commendable fuel economy, simple controls, a comfortable ride, and responsive handling” for customers.

In the road test, it gets a 90 out of a possible 100 points. CR ranks Forester #1 of 15: Compact sport-utility vehicles.

What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Forester?

The 2021 Forester comes in five trim levels, and the base trim has an MSRP of $25,845, Premium ($28,845), Sport ($30,445), Limited ($32,445), and Touring ($35,945). Pricing includes $1,050 destination.

Why should I buy a Subaru Crosstrek?

CR says, “The Crosstrek delivers good fuel economy and impressive ride comfort, along with competent and enjoyable handling. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and CVT return 29 mpg overall, which is quite good.”

Subaru now offers new 2021 Crosstrek Sport and Limited models with a bigger 2.5-liter engine. The larger 2.5-liter engine gets an impressive 27/34 city/highway and 29 combined mpg.

The Subaru Crosstrek also scored high in CR’s Annual Auto Survey in reliability. They found they have been relatively problem-free, as reported by car owners in their survey. CR ranks Crosstrek #1 of 13: Subcompact sport-utility vehicles.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek comes in five trim levels. The base trim is priced from $22,245, Premium ($23,295), all-new Sport ($26,495), and Limited with the 2.5-liter engine ($27,995). Destination and delivery add $1,050.
