Kyle Busch transforms a Camry into a Dream car with heavy modifications.

The 2013 Toyota Camry that Kyle Busch is transforming as part of the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge will not be like any other ever seen before. Unlike the Prius and Sequoia being built for the challenge by racers Clint Bowyer and Antron Brown, the Camry is a legitimate race car, Raced in the NASCAR series. With its strong V6 engine and configured as an SE, the stock Toyota Camry is no slouch. It is fully capable of holding its own on the street against some of the world’s best sport sedans. Since fans will vote for their favorite, this contest is very likely to come down to Busch’s Camry and a Toyota Tundra being built by Alexis DeJoria. That is unless the Prius fans highjack the voting software and cast a trillion votes for the Prius!

Rather than take the hot rod approach, Kyle Busch has wisely decided to model the Camry Dream Build car after his own unique personality. His nickname on the NASCAR circuit is “Rowdy” and he has named the Camry “Rowdy” as well. Busch says the car is all about styling and commented in a press release saying “Our approach to the build is to make a car with the stance, attitude and handling of a road-race car while retaining the functionality of a production Camry Our approach to the build is to make a car with the stance, attitude and handling of a road-race car while retaining the functionality of a production Camry.”

Spy photos released by Toyota of Busch’s modifications, being done by Detroit Speed & Engineering in Mooresville, N.C., show that the car is no wheel and decal job. The fenders have been cut and widened, the interior is gutted and the rear of the car has been heavily revised with a stronger attitude and what appears to be an underbody diffuser like that found in a NASCAR racer.

Voting opens October 20th and on the 30th the winner will be revealed in Las Vegas. Look for updates at Torque News as voting draws closre.
