Fox News electric car review comes with advertisement for oil pipeline

In order to watch the Fox News review of the Tesla Model S one must first see an advertisement for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

The Keystone XL Pipeline is a project that once complete will bring oil from Canada to Nebraska. The Tesla Model S is an electric vehicle driven primarily by people who think oil is a bad thing. Leave it to Fox News to put an advertisement for an oil pipeline in front of its review of an electric car.

Perhaps it is meant as a joke, or a stab at irony, but click on the “Tesla Model S a Tasty Treat” story on the Fox site and before the review starts an advertisement for the oil pipeline plays. Maybe the folks who paid for the advertisement think that they can convince Tesla fans and owners that oil is really the way to go, but it seems doubtful. It also seems about as smart as a Smith and Wesson advertisement in front of a gun buy-back program story.

When the review is viewed on this Fox’ Youtube.com page the advertisement does not run, but at the time of this story’s publication this link would direct the reader to the story with the advert. The advertisement uses President Obama’s own words to make the Keystone Pipeline seem like a great idea for job creation and other benefits to the US economy. Many EV enthusiasts may see the project in a slightly different light.

It just shows the alternative to burning a million years of fossil fuel and creating pollution. Tesla is the answer.

We bought a 2011 Nissan Leaf and so far the experience has been life altering. It amazes me how bad gas burning car smell especially in the morning. never noticed it when I had a gas gobbler. I can't imagine going back to gasoline. I can't imagine anyone with a Tesla considering buying a car with an ICE engine so I'm thinking somebody wasted their advertising dollars.
