The 2016 Lexus X 200t earns a new award to go along with strong sales.

U.S. News and World Report named the 2016 Lexus NX 200t the best vehicle in its category in its recently released rankings. U.S. News compiles data from published test drive reviews and also does its own analysis of long-term costs. It then ranks the vehicles in each segment to name a winner. In its report, U.S. News said: “With the best combination of positive reviews and long-term ownership costs in its class, the Lexus NX is our 2016 Best Luxury Compact SUV for the Money.”

Since its introduction last year, the 2016 Lexus NX 200t has been winning over test drivers and consumers alike. Lexus was late to the party. Its RX 350 is the best-selling premium crossover overall and is slightly larger than the compact SUV segment. By the time the all-new NX 200t arrived the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and other crossovers had already established themselves. Despite the crowded and daunting field, the NX 200t quickly rose to become the number two selling compact crossover in the segment.

Although most publications have found the Lexus NX 200t to be one of the top vehicles in its class, Consumer Reports editors had a different opinion. They called the NX 200t a “Worst Car Pick.” This was not based on quality reporting from their readership. Those results are hard to argue. Rather, this was the opinion of the CR writers.

The NX 200t was also in the news recently for having been the single most searched for premium vehicle on the internet in 2015.
