Hyundai Keeps Setting SUV Sales Records

Hyundai has announced June sales figures for 2020 as well as the total quarter two sales. In these challenging times, we will see how well Hyundai sales have performed.

Hyundai June 2020 Sales

Hyundai just announced sales numbers for June 2020. Retail sales increased 6% year-over-year, SUV retail sales are up 34%, and the most expensive model, the Palisade, just established a new monthly sales record. Solid stuff for sure, especially during these tough and uncertain times.

Hyundai Palisade

A total of 50,135 units got sold in the United States for June 2020. This figure is a 22% decrease from June 2019 but expected due to the current economic situation. Retails sales growing 6% year-over-year is a big highlight for Hyundai as this is the second straight month of increasing year-over-year retail sales. Fleet sales are down 93%, which sounds terrible but represents only 2% of Hyundai’s total volume.

So, in total, Hyundai sold 48,935 retail units in June 2020. SUVs account for 69% of that number showing just how much SUVs are taking over in the States. SUV retail sales grew 34%, and the Palisade, one of Hyundai’s most expensive products, set a new monthly sales record, selling 8,169 units. Hyundai’s most expensive SUV is one of its top-selling vehicles now as the Santa Fe sold 8,376 units. The Santa Fe sales are also up for June by 14%. The most sold car in June 2020 is the Tucson at 10,216 units.

Hyundai TucsonThe Reason for Hyundai’s Sales Success

Randy Parker, vice president of Hyundai Motor America National Sales, attributes its sales success to the dealers’ quick action to meet customer demand. Hyundai was not scared to stock up dealerships with products despite the current situation as Hyundai knew the vehicles would sell. By offering aggressive incentives, low-interest rates, and deferred payments, Hyundai knew it could be successful. Randy Parker believes Hyundai can continue to outperform the market moving forward.

2020 Hyundai SonataHyundai June 2020 Sales Conclusion

The Hyundai Nexo will end up being rarer than a Lamborghini Aventador. Nexo aside, I firmly believe Hyundai can continue to be successful. Yes, incentives help, but creating quality products helps Hyundai stay on the map for the long run. I am excited to see the new upcoming products.
