Ranking All 8 Toyota Nightshade Vehicles – Where Did 2021 Tacoma Place?

Work for Torque News, follow on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.

We look at the entire lineup of Toyota Nightshade cars, trucks and SUVs. See how your list compares with ours.

They say first appearances are everything. Or at least they can be everything. By the way, how come we never find out who “they” are and how they are so qualified to give opinions on virtually every topic ever thought of? But I digress.

Today I am ranking all 8 Toyota models available in Nightshade Editions. A Nightshade Toyota features sleek, mysterious, black-out appearance features that alter the look of current Toyota models and trim levels. For example, a 2020 4Runner Limited Nightshade utilizes black chrome and gloss black accents instead of traditional chrome highlights. Other models follow similar patterns.

Nightshade models can be found in 2020 Corolla, Camry, Corolla Hatchback, Sienna and 4Runner. Upcoming 2021 Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoias will also feature Nightshade appearance packages.

Time for the big reveal of my rankings. Note: Being a big Toyota fan for over 15 years, I really do like all these Nightshade options. However, I had to rank them. Make a list of your rankings and comment below. It will be fun to compare.

#8 – 2020 Toyota Sienna SE Nightshade Package

The Sienna Nightshade does not have its own trim level, but rather is listed as Nightshade Package on 2020 Sienna SE. It comes with 19-inch 6-spoke gloss black alloy wheels, sport mesh front grille, side mirror caps, door handles, rear spoiler, liftgate license garnish, along with black badging.

#7 – 2020 Corolla SE Nightshade Edition

This is one gorgeous ride. Choose between SE and 2020 Corolla SE Nightshade if you want a Sport Edition. Look for 18-inch black alloy wheels, side mirror caps, outside door handles and rear spoiler.

#6 – 2021 Toyota Sequoia Nightshade

This is the first of the upcoming 2021 Toyotas on my list. Sequoia Nightshade is based on its popular Limited trim level and will be available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. It comes with upgraded wheels, dark chrome badging, body moldings, as well as fog light and lower grille surrounds. I cannot wait to see this in person.

#5 – 2021 Tacoma Nightshade

To quote my kids, this blacked-out, menacing-looking Tacoma is going to look sick. It will be incredible, and I predict quite popular as well. Plan on seeing the framework for the Tacoma Limited, but then mix in an original front grille, fog light bezels, black exhaust tip and dark smoky-looking 18-inch alloy wheels. Hot. Hot. Hot.

#4 – 2020 Corolla Hatchback SE Nightshade Edition

After studying and reviewing this 2020 Corolla Hatchback Nightshade, I came away marveling at what a cool car this is. I absolutely love the 18-inch black alloy wheels, which really stand out. I also moved this Corolla Hatchback higher on my list due to the large amounts of black accents that were added. It really changes the look of the car compared to a traditional Corolla Hatchback SE.

Also look for black emblems and badging, rear spoiler, lower grille surround, side mirror caps and single exhaust with dual black diffusers. I am including a picture comparing both 2020 Corolla Hatchback SE and SE Nightshade so you can see just how different they look.

#3 – 2021 Toyota Tundra Nightshade

Tundra Nightshade is at the top of my all-new 2021 Nightshade models list. It just looks so tough and rugged and streamlined and menacing. This will feature blackened accents such as black alloy wheels, exhaust tip, mirror caps and door handles, along with a darkened front grille.

Call me a fan. Plus throw in its 5.7-liter V8 engine and 381 horsepower and I am a double fan.

#2 – 2020 Camry SE Nightshade

Toyota Camry Nightshade is based on the SE Sport Edition grade we all know and love. I bumped this one right to the top of my rankings due to its stark black contrast accents, as well as the fact that it is offered in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. This is next level stuff here gang.

Someone interested in purchasing a 2020 Camry Nightshade should appreciate its 18-inch black alloy wheels, black rear spoiler, mirror caps, door handles and badging.

#1 – 2020 4Runner Limited Nightshade

I have had my eye on this 2020 Toyota 4Runner Nightshade, which is another arm of the Limited grade, for about two years now. I find its black chrome accents fascinating and in dramatic contrast to 4Runner Limited highlights. We have a lot of black accents here folks.

VIDEO REVIEW: Compare 2020 4Runner Nightshade vs 2019 4Runner Nightshade. Who wins?

Black badge overlays, front and rear bumper spoilers, door handles, rocker panels, side mirror caps, roof rails, window moldings, exhaust tip and garnishes. Interior highlights are black trim steering wheel, shift knob, center console panel and inner door grips.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is my winner. At least for today.
