Android Users will be Thrilled with Toyota's 2020 Camry Announcement

Toyota just announced an important upgrade for the 2020 Camry. Find out what it is and who will benefit the most.

The Toyota Camry is America’s best-selling midsize sedan. It reaches out to all demographics and appeals to many different types of people and their families. This latest generation also happens to be loaded with crucial safety features and new technology.

One of the main criteria among many car buyers is the need to stay connected through in-vehicle technology. Most of the questions I get about Toyota models center around Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and will those popular applications be in the next Toyota they buy?

2020 Camry will feature Android Auto

Toyota came through for Android phone owners and will offer Android Auto for the 2020 Toyota Camry. In fact, it will be standard equipment across all trim levels. This is really exciting news and I am thrilled for Android users who have been waiting patiently for their time to come.

Toyota will also continue offering standard Apple CarPlay and Alexa-enabled commands. When the 2018 Camry was redesigned, it came without both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leaving buyers puzzled as to their absenses.

Fortunately, Toyota released a software update earlier this year that adds CarPlay to both the 2018 Camry and 2018 Sienna. My 2018 Camry XLE thanks you very much Toyota.

Other news about 2020 Camry

The other big news is that Toyota will soon release the 2020 Camry TRD. Look for this performance-enhanced 2020 Camry TRD to be similar in many ways to the recently-released 2020 Avalon TRD.

The Camry TRD is upgraded with track-tuned chassis upgrades, 19-inch matte black alloy wheels, an exterior aero kit and a prominent cat-back dual exhaust. It should be fascinating to both see and drive.

Look for the 2020 Toyota Camry TRD and other Camry models to reach dealerships beginning September. I cannot wait.

Time for your thoughts on the Toyota Camry

I would love to know if you own a Camry or if you plan on looking for one in the near future. Do the additions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto affect your decision to pursue Camry?

Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story where I am discussing why the Toyota 4Runner has such a loyal following these days.

Too long in coming for Toyota to put Android Auto into the Camry. All I can say is that it is still missing from the Corolla sedan, and holding me back from purchase, and annoyed it won't be added until the 2021 model.

I'm put off by the angry, screaming faces of the Toyotas. What are they trying to convey?

I do own a new Camry, we bought the 2019 Camry SE. Apple CarPlay was a factor because even though we were Android users I was thinking of getting my wife an iPhone to replace her aging Galaxy S5. I had a chance to buy a new 2018 SE but went with the 2019 as CarPlay was a sure thing while Toyota wasn't saying whether the 2018 would get the firmware upgrade. I debated whether to wait another year for Android Auto but we decided to buy in November 2018. It would be nice if a firmware upgrade will add Android Auto to the 2019 and 2018 but I'll probably also buy an iPhone to replace my old Galaxy S5, too as it;s easier to support only one phone OS.

Anyway, love our Camry!

I own a 2016 Camry SE special Edition and have owned a 2012 SE and 2015 LE for the past five years. Honestly, I don’t care weather it has apple play or any other phone tech when I decided to purchase my car. I prefer the sports edition over the LE model. They handle better and over all nicer to drive. I owned my LE for six months and gave it back. I like the sun roof and the keyless entertaining/ push start. Wouldn’t go back to the old school key. Also can’t complain about the gas mileage on average 10L/ 100km, you can’t go wrong. And the fact that I love the engine in my car. Can’t complain for being a 4 cylinder... 0-60 in 8 seconds. I got to say it’s a car I am happy to be seen in. I’ve loved it since the first time I drove it when I had it as a rental. And the amount of compliments I got when I drove my 2012 SE, I couldn’t get enough of it. I felt like a million dollars.

Woo hoo! Thanks for confirming Android Auto will be on the 2020 Camry! I've driven a 2012 SE V6 Camry for years. It's been a great car. Now it's time to pass it to my son. I will be shopping for either the Camry TRD or the Avalon TRD soon. Android Auto support is something I've been waiting on. Can't wait to try out the new cars next month.
