Owners React to their New 2019 Ram 1500s

Work for Torque News, follow on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.

It is the first question that everyone asks someone with a brand new vehicle. "How do you like it." 2019 Ram tells a truck forum what he likes about his 2019 Ram 1500 and what he doesn't.

2019Ram says he hasn’t posted on the popular Ram forum before, even though he owns a 2014 Ram 1500, but he is very excited to share about his 2019 Ram 1500. He says, “Hey fellow ram owners, first time posting here and want to share my purchase I made last friday, finally found a dealer that had one in and in a color and configuration that i liked, a laramie crew cab with the short bed in black, it has the bench seat up front, 275 65r18 tires (don’t really like 20's on my truck) and thankfully it doesn’t have parking sensors because I always had problems with them on my 2014 ram 1500, I was looking for a big horn like my 14 was but oddly enough this laramie was the cheapest 2019 I found, most of the big horns were around $52,000 and the laramie was under $48,000 so I went for the Laramie.

BigHorn17 was the first to react. “Nice truck! Crazy that the Laramie was less than the Big Horn!”

Details, The Forum Members Want Details!

Thunder, from North Carolina, who is a frequent poster, can’t wait to hear all about the 2019! “I think you might be the first person here with a 5th gen! We are looking forward to hearing all about it to see how all the advertised features play out in the real world; even the mundane minutiae! The dealer here in town just got one, but I have yet to see any driving around.”

Several of the Ram fans tell 2019Ram that they are waiting until they can get the built-in Ramboxes before they will buy, but the frequent posters are very excited for 2019Ram. “Congrats on the purchase! I haven't even seen them at dealers in my area yet. The e-torque intrigues me, I'd have to wait for that to be available before entertaining a new 1500.”

These fans are serious about wanting to know details. Yankee, from San Diego, asks great questions. Inquiring minds want to know! “I don't see microphones on the rear view mirror. I see a Split rear view mirror, do you have a back up camera monitor in that mirror? If you do, is it for the Tailgate camera or the Cargo camera ? Does your Tailgate lower by using a button on the Remote ?”

2019Ram is happy to answer! “The microphones are above the driver and passenger seats, and the rearview mirror is a single piece, the back- up camera is in the uconnect radio and it works great, they made it so you can zoom in on it.” It is nice of him to share, but I have found that most pickup drivers are very nice.

Several of the posters go off on a tangent about how much the insurance will go up on a new truck. The 2019 has more safety features, which helps, but new vehicles always spike the insurance a little.

MPG and eTorque are Big Questions

Cadet wants to know more of the details about the truck. “Can you keep us informed of your fuel mileage?”

2019Ram says the weather in Illinois hasn’t been helping. “I Sure will, it been around 19.5 lately it only has just over 1000 miles on it right now so it fluctuates a lot, also been pretty windy here lately so that’s not helping either.”

It will be interesting to see how 2019Ram likes his new truck down the road. He loves it so far. It will also be fun to see how the rest of the drivers like the 2019 once they can get it fitted with Ramboxes. Fans love their Rams and the 2019 Ram 1500 seems to have made popular improvements!

Traded in my ‘17 longhorn for a ‘19 with etorque. Drove it one day and to the shop it went. Electrical issue and was told resolved by resetting codes. Three days later, same issue. Told 3 to 5 days for the part. So 10 days of ownership and I hate the truck. My 5th Ram and the first time I felt this way.

I’m right there with you. I bought a 19 Ram Bighorn sport and I’ve been having a lot of wired electrical issues. Problems with backup camera occasionally working, side mirrors not closing right, radio losing programming but coming back after a restart, steering wheel controls occasionally not working, strange whistle sounds after driving when shout off, motor sounds like a riding tractor occasionally when I start it up and last but not least passengers side taillight is filling up with water. Mopar junk!

I order a 2019 Ram Laramie with the Ram Box. It was order 6/7/2018. Still waiting for the Ram. Was told by the FCA care center that the truck was in inspectio since 7/16/18. I have a case number and was inform that a case manager would call regarding the status. Never recived a call. I have been told that the truck was suppose to be shipped 7/11/18. Now waiting for email regarding status. I have a 2015 Ram Laramie and is will equipped. I enjoy driving the truck. I have own Chevy, GMC and Ford. I prefer the Ram truck over any of these. I am getting tired of waiting for information on the truck. If you like to check on the status of a t ruck you order you can call 1 800 423 6343 or 1 800 992 1977 with the vin #. I hope you get better answer than what I have been getting.
Good luck.

Bought a 2019 Big Horn. Let's start with electrical... Press brake & push start button to start, garage opener, & USB port lights come on randomly when the vehicle is powered down & locked. There were other cluster light issues, but they reset the computer & those issues seem to have gone away. Now the radio/CD player volume occasionally fades out. The front bumper, engine compartment hood, & bed were mounted crooked. Also there was an outward ding on the passenger door. They corrected the hood & bumper on the 1st visit with resetting the computer. When I got it back... The ding was still in the door & the bed was still a little off. Second visit... They lifted the cab to straighten it with the bed. Now the hood is off again & the driver side passenger door is off. Along with the Press brake, garage opener, & USB port lights still randomly coming on... I was told Chrysler will no longer pay for these repairs! WTF is a warranty for?

My truck is now back in for the 3rd time. They had it 5 days the 1st time, 14 days the 2nd time, & now 16 days. they haven't called me once to let me know what's going on. I left a message yesterday & there's been no return call. I bought it on Aug 12th. I've had the truck a total of 39 days. They've had 35 days & counting. Are they holding it hostage?

We were looking forward to buying a couple of 2019 Ram Big Horn trucks, but it seems to be they are polished turds made in Mexico. They should have stayed with the 2015 format.

Truck is still on its 3rd return service. 23 days & counting. After calling the sales manager the service manager finally called me back. Said he needed to talk to me with the technician & would call back in 15 minutes. Yep, you guessed it... no call. Left a message with the sales manager. Yep, no call. They haven't asked for ransom money, so I have that going for me. All total I've had the truck 39 days, they've had it 42. Maybe they'd like to pay my insurance?

Mike, you should file for the lemon. They have no rights to keep your car longer than 30day or automatically they have to pay all money back.

Any one else notice how the hood starts to indent at about 110 km h? It ripples and collapses a few mm centred about a foot in front of the windshield. Flimsy. It’s annoying visually and I am worried it will cause long term damage. 2019 Big Horn.

I have a ram 1500 basic model with a cd player. The position of the player is terrible, under the center console

which holds the cup holders. To eccess it you must pull it up as its under the console making the cupholder and storage area is useless, plus if you a 3rd person in the front seat you would not be able to acess it.
