Chevy is beefing up its smallest crossover SUV to better compete. It is designed to draw buyers back from other entry level vehicles as well as the used car market.

Chevrolet is reimagining the compact SUV called the Trax. Much like some of its foreign competitors who have focused on entry level buyers, Chevy is loading up the Trax with lots of technology. The 2024 Chevrolet Trax is larger than the current version, with more room for passengers and cargo. With a MSRP starting at $21,495, it is designed to win back some young buyers as well as others who might have had to turn to the used car market because new cars have gotten so incredibly expensive.

“The all-new Trax has everything you need and nothing you don’t,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “More space. More features. More style. This is an entry-level vehicle that will surprise and delight customers with its value and plays a critical role as the gateway into the Chevy brand.”

  • Five different trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV
  • Six advanced safety and driver awareness technologies
  • Standard 8-inch-diagonal infotainment screen and an 11-inch-diagonal screen on LT, 2RS and ACTIV trims
  • LED headlamps
  • 17-inch, 18-inch or 19-inch wheels
  • Front-Wheel Drive
  • Most models have push-button start, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control is available on some models, a first for Trax.
  • Sunroof is available

2024 Trax Looks More Like Other Chevrolets

The new Trax is powered by a 1.2L turbocharged inline-three engine rated at a GM-estimated 137 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. The turbo helps it accelerate especially for passing and on entrance ramps.
The 2024 Trax is designed to look more like the larger crossovers in the line-up. The front fascia especially looks like the larger Trail Blazer and Blazer.

“The bold exterior and tech-forward interior design of the all-new Trax redefines what an entry-level vehicle can be,” said Phil Zak, executive design director, Global Chevrolet. “It demonstrates that modern, stylish design doesn’t have to come at a premium.”

The RS trim is Trax’s sportiest design with additional exterior trim accents, as well as a unique grille with an embedded RS badge. The 2RS features 19-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels. The 2RS features red accents on the seats and a racing-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel.

The new ACTIV has a monochromatic look including titanium chrome accents and an aggressive-looking rear skid plate motif. It also features unique black 18-inch wheels. The ACTIV features Evotex seats with yellow accents. Both the 2RS and the ACTIV have MSRPs starting at $24,995.

The 2024 Trax is designed as a gateway vehicle to get buyers into the Chevrolet family. This new Trax is lightyears ahead of when the first tiny one was introduced in 2007, along with the Beat and the Groove. Chevrolet has been very effective at attracting younger buyers and keeping them as they grow their families. The technology is often the most attractive aspect for the younger buyers. Once they become accustomed to what GM products offer, like OnStar, Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto capability and wireless phone charging, they often want the same technology and safety features in every vehicle.

The all-new 2024 Chevrolet Trax will be assembled in South Korea. It goes on sale in the spring of 2023.

We need you to invent a truck that the bed can separate in the middle with a push of a button and a ramp unfolds off the tailgate, so I can load my motorcycle in the back with automatic wheel locks. Unseparated the bed by lifting a section on both sides of the bike for driving.. if I had the money I would modify my 2003 Silverado.
