The Subaru Outback Wilderness, And Why You Don’t Want To Wait For 2025 Models

Should you buy a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness or wait for the new 2025 models? Find out why it’s a bad idea to wait.

The Subaru Outback Wilderness has been Subaru of America's hot model, and for good reason. It’s a desirable outdoor-themed SUV that is unlike any other midsize SUV in America.

Should you buy a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness now or wait for the new 2025 model year?

So, if you haven’t purchased one yet and are still on the fence, here’s why you shouldn’t wait for the 2025 Outback Wilderness model change.

I recently wrote that the next-generation Subaru Outback has been delayed until the 2026 model year. So, that means the 2025 Outback will be a carry-over model with little or no changes.

When Will The Next-Gen Outback Arrive?

The Outback will now go six years between the current sixth-generation model and the remodeled seventh-generation Outback. So, I would say it's another year away from making its dealer launch when customers can actually buy one.

That means the next generation Outback Wilderness could be two years away as a 2027 model. Subaru chose to wait one extra year to upgrade the Forester Wilderness, which will now be a 2026 model year. They will likely do the same with the Outback Wilderness.

When Is The Best Time To Buy A Subaru Outback Wilderness?

Subaru of America is offering special 1.9% APR financing for 48 months now through April, 30, 2024 for all 2024 Outback trim levels. If you've been on the fence about buying one, now could be the best time to buy any Outback trim level, but especially the rugged outdoor-themed Outback Wilderness.

If I Wait Will I Pay More?

Even though the 2025 Outback and Outback Wilderness will be a carry-over model, Subaru of America will raise the price. I don’t know how much, but it will go up.

Should I Buy A Used Outback?

Also through April 30th, Subaru is offering special financing on all certified used vehicles. That's the same deal as last month, with Subaru's interest rate remaining about 1% lower than previous incentives.

There are no exclusions, which means you can even score the best deal on the popular Outback Wilderness.

Will Subaru Launch The New Outback Hybrid?

The Outback Hybrid is also on the drawing board. The seventh-generation Outback will get a new Hybrid trim level, but like the Forester Hybrid, it will also arrive one year after the next-generation 2026 Outback. So, the Outback Hybrid will make its reveal sometime in early 2027.

If it were me, I would buy the 2024 Subaru Outback now. Subaru raised prices on one of the 2025 Outback trim levels and raised the dealer fees.

I just bought my very first Subaru! The 2024 Wilderness, in crystal black. Although I don't go out into the wilderness very often, I really liked the looks of this Outback. I can tell you that I have never been so happy with a car and a brand new spankin' new one at that. I am sure that I am not utilizing every feature on it, but that will come with time and help from my kids!
