Subaru Forester Is The Hottest-Selling New Compact SUV In The U.S.

Subaru now has two of the five fastest-selling new cars in September. Before the 2022 models arrive, the outgoing 2021 Subaru Forester is flying off dealers' lots.

How hot is the 2021 Subaru Forester? Customers aren't waiting for the 2022 models to arrive. They are buying the outgoing model as fast as Subaru can build them. The latest iSeeCars study says the Subaru Forester is the third fastest-selling new car in the U.S. in September.

The iSeeCars study found that the average new vehicle took 24.6 days to sell overall. In comparison, the 2021 Subaru Forester ranks third-fastest to sell, taking an average of just 9.5 days. The Forester is behind the new Chevrolet Corvette, which took 8.6 days to move off dealers' lots.

Top 10 fastest-selling new vehicles In September 2021 from the iSeeCars study are the Subaru Crosstrek, Chevrolet Corvette, Subaru Forester, Toyota Sienna, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Cadillac Escalade, Toyota C-HR, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, and Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

Yes, Subaru has two of the top three fastest-selling models. Like the Forester, the Subaru Crosstrek is flying off dealers' lots and is now the fastest-selling new car this fall. The Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV took just 7.8 days to sell on average.


The refreshed 2022 Subaru Forester

"As demand continues to outpace supply for new cars, consumers should act quickly if they see their desired vehicle for sale, and buyers will have to be flexible on color and trim options for in-demand models," said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer.

iSeeCars identified the top 20 fastest-selling new cars, which sell 2.1 to 3.2 times faster than the average new vehicle and average 10.1 days on dealers' lots. You can read the report here.

Subaru has the tightest supply of new cars of any automaker, and it may be hard to find the exact Forester color and the trim level you want. If you can't find a 2021 Subaru Forester, you might want to wait for the refreshed 2022 Forester model change.

The 2022 Forester gets a refresh in the fourth year of its life cycle. It includes a new look with a redesigned front facia, new grille, headlights, fog light covers, new safety technology, and convenience features.

What is the price of the 2022 Forester?

For the 2022 model change Forester comes in six trim levels; The base Forester starts at $26,320, Premium ($29,320), Sport ($30,890), Limited ($33,000), new Wilderness ($33,945), and Touring ($36,420). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,125).

When will the 2022 Subaru Forester arrive in U.S. showrooms?

Subaru did not announce when the 2022 Forester will be available, but it will likely be in U.S. showrooms late winter or early 2022. Before the new 2022 models arrive, the 2021 Subaru Forester is the hottest new compact SUV in the U.S. this fall.
