The all-new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid signals new things for the brand. See what it means for SUV customers.

Honda is launching its all-new 2020 CR-V Hybrid small SUV for U.S. customers and it signals what is coming in the future for Honda customers. The future is getting greener according to Henio Arcangeli, Jr., senior vice president of Automobile Sales at American Honda. Honda customers will have more new hybrids SUVs coming to showrooms. Here’s a glimpse into future Honda vehicles.

Henio Arcangeli, Jr. Introduced the new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid with a few additional announcements. In addition to the CR-V Hybrid, you can look for more new hybrid offerings from American Honda. He says. “We’re moving to electrify virtually all of our core models, cars and light trucks.”

The America Honda boss says by 2030, the Japanese automaker wants to have two-thirds of its global vehicle sales to come from electrified products, as part of its effort to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. “We’re approaching this challenge with a realistic view of both a gradually evolving market and the business challenges that still remain in bringing electrified products into the mainstream.” He goes on to say.

What’s coming for Honda customers

Honda’s main focus will be hybrid vehicles moving forward, so look for a new Honda Pilot Hybrid, Passport Hybrid, Ridgeline Hybrid, and even an Odyssey Hybrid family hauler coming soon to showrooms. Honda expects to have around half of its global sales hybrid models by 2030 and around 15 percent all-electric vehicles in the same time frame.

For the near future, Honda will focus on hybrids powertrains for not only its SUVs, pickup and minivan, they will also bring hybrid offers to the Civic compact cars and the Accord sedan model lineup. Honda will introduce you to hybrid models first and then slowly move to all-electric as they become more accepted.

“For the immediate future we see hybrids as the best way to bring electrified powertrains further and more quickly into the mainstream and in the process, we are creating customers for the full-electric vehicles of the future.” Says Henio Arcangeli, Jr.

The new 2020 Honda CR-V brings a two-motor system that should significantly improve fuel economy (yet to be announced) and lower GHG emissions. Honda says the CR-V Hybrid will deliver the performance customers need and want from the popular small SUV. All CR-V Hybrid trims will also come standard with all-wheel-drive.

Look for the all-new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid models to arrive early next year, with pricing and fuel-mileage numbers coming closer to dealer launch. Stay tuned.

Ummm, this new Honda CR-V is untested here in the US, with no performance numbers. Also, the fuel economy is also unknown. Me thinks somewhat premature to declare ho great it is until the US version has been put through its paces.
