The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is all-new; it ranks highest in safety scores, gets excellent fuel mileage, scores highest in reliability, and is designed for off-pavement adventures for those with active lifestyles. How much does it cost to insure the new rugged, compact SUV? A new report from Insure.com says the Forester Wilderness is now the least expensive car to insure in 2022.


Insure.com compares car insurance rates in every state for approximately 3,000 different vehicle models to find both the cheapest and most expensive vehicles to insure. They found that at an average of $5,176 a year, the Maserati Quattroporte is the most expensive new car to insure. The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is now the least-costly new vehicle to insure at $1,353 per year.

Why is the Forester Wilderness the cheapest to insure?


insure.com says, "Because of this vehicle's safety ratings and the lower price of parts associated with this model, this is less expensive to insure than virtually any other automobile." 
"The cost to insure a Forester for a full-coverage, low-risk driver, is very reasonable," says Lauren McKenzie, insurance broker/agent with A Plus Insurance in Sierra Vista, Arizona. "You are looking at about $150 a month or cheaper, depending on discounts drivers may qualify for."

It has automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alerts, and adaptive cruise control. Some Forester trims also come with the new DriverFocus technology that alerts the driver if it senses drowsiness.

Kelly Blue Book analysis reveals that the 2022 Subaru Forester is the lowest cost-to-own in the competitive compact SUV segment and the best in class. The Forester's five-year cost to own is $35,638 (including the purchase price). The Forester has the lowest depreciation of any compact SUV.
