The 3 Things This Holiday Season Only Subaru Owners Are Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. What are three things that Subaru owners are thankful for? They are all about the best things in life and what the automaker is known for.

It's Thanksgiving, and while most people are gathering to eat turkey, and going shopping for Black Friday sales, Subaru Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek owners are gathering around the campfire this weekend, away from the Holiday lines, and getting further off the grid. There are three things Subaru owners are most thankful for this weekend.

Mountains Trails

While most owners don't take their SUVs off-roading, the Subaru brand attracts a different breed who take their SUVs off-pavement. Todd Hill, Subaru's Car Line Planning Manager, says 33 percent of Subaru Crosstrek owners will use it for off-pavement recreation. The Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek aren't your typical SUVs, and they come with 8.7 inches of ground clearance which no typical SUV competitor exceeds.

The Outback and Forester Wilderness are even more able to handle steep mountain trails and get further off the grid. They are family vehicles owners use for extreme recreation on the weekends.

Muddy Puddles

Straight from the factory, the 2023 Forester Sport and Wilderness, Outback XT and Wilderness, and Crosstrek Sport and Limited adventure-ready models are even more off-road capable with dual-function X-Mode that give the all-wheel-drive vehicles even more "go-anywhere" attitude and extreme all-terrain ability.

The Subaru SUVs have a Deep Snow and Deep Mud setting for muddy trails. They choose to get their vehicle dirty, and it's a badge of honor if you can't see the car's color.

A Room With A View

Many Subaru owners use a rooftop tent, making Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek ideal outdoor adventure vehicles. Add in Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive and the dual-function X-Mode, and it gets you further away from civilization.

What is the load capacity of Subaru roof rails?

The capacity of the standard roof rails on a Subaru Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek is 700 lbs when parked on a level surface. The tent and occupants inside cannot exceed that weight. When the vehicle is moving, the three Subaru models have a roof rail capacity of 176 pounds; the tent has to weigh less when stowed. Thule makes several products designed for your Subaru if you need to increase the carrying capacity.

Wilderness trims have increased load capacity

The 2023 Forester and Outback Wilderness trim levels come with a new ladder-type roof rail design offering a higher load capacity (220 lb. vs. 176 lb.) and an 800-lb. static load limit (vs. 700 lb.), allowing safe use of a rooftop tent.

Subaru owners are thankful for the same things other families are grateful for. Still, they are also thankful for their Subaru Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek, which will get them further off the grid this weekend and away from the busy city.
