The 2022 Subaru Impreza pricing and model upgrades are announced. Subaru makes no changes to the model. See what's coming for 2023 models.

The Impreza was all-new in 2017, and Subaru typically introduces a new Impreza every five years. Subaru should have announced a complete redesign for the 2022 Subaru Impreza, but the compact sedan and hatchback remain unchanged. The all-new redesign from the ground up will come for the 2023 models.

Subaru of America announced pricing for the 2022 Impreza model change, and there is no price increase. Although Subaru increased the destination and delivery fees from $925 to $960, each model increases $35.00.

Minor changes include a new Sapphire Blue Pearl exterior color (main image above) on all trim levels, and Limited now is offered exclusively in the hatchback body style.

The 2022 Impreza comes in four trim levels for customers. The seven different models come in base sedan ($19,755), base hatchback ($20,255) Premium sedan ($23,155), Premium hatchback ($23,655), Sport sedan ($24,555), Sport hatchback ($23,955), and Limited hatchback ($27,355). Destination and delivery ($960) are included in the prices above.

All Impreza trims come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 152-hp and 145 lb.-ft. of torque. Subaru still offers the 6-speed manual transmission standard in the three trims (base sedan and hatchback and Sport hatchback).

What sets the Subaru Impreza apart from the rest?

The 2022 Impreza is still the only compact car in North America with standard all-wheel drive, and it's the compact car's best feature. A few competitors offer it, but you'll have to pay extra to get the all-weather capability the Impreza offers standard on all trim levels.

Base trims also come standard with Subaru Starlink, a 6.5-inch Multimedia system with touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power windows, door locks, and side mirrors, 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, multifunction display with fuel economy information, tilt and telescoping steering column, keyless entry, security system with engine immobilizer, and carpeted floor mats.

Premium trim adds a 7-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters on CVT-equipped models. The Premium also adds the Starlink 6.5-inch Multimedia Plus, Starlink safety and security features, fog lights, and the all-weather package with heated front seats, windshield, and exterior mirrors.
The 5-door models come with roof rails as standard. New for 2021, the Premium trim adds an SI-DRIVE performance management system.

What is the best Impreza trim level?

The 2022 Impreza Sport hits the sweet spot for features, price, and suspension tuning for improved driving dynamics. The Sport trim comes with 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels and Active Torque Vectoring (ATV). What difference will driving enthusiasts feel?

ATV is a performance system first introduced on the Subaru WRX that helps reduce understeer. Without it, the forward motion wants to keep the vehicle moving in a straight path. With ATV, it will help the Impreza Sport carve a tight corner.

Sport trims also come with Subaru Starlink 8.0-inch Multimedia Plus system, keyless access with pushbutton start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift handle, and CVT shift boot.

The top-of-the lineup Limited trim adds LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. The Limited also comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels in a black machine finish and body-color exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals.

Limited comes upgraded with a leather-trimmed interior with double stitching on the door armrests and instrument panel, plus a 6-way power driver's seat, an automatic climate control system, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter.

Safety features for 2021

The Limited also upgrades safety with Reverse Automatic Braking and Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Keep Assist and Rear-Cross Traffic Alert. Also standard are High Beam Assist and Steering Responsive Headlights.

The 2022 Subaru Impreza sedan and hatchback models are built at the U.S. plant in Lafayette, Indiana, and should arrive at Subaru showrooms this summer.

The best feature to me is Impreza's large interior cabin, one of the biggest in its subcompact class. It offers ample leg and head room and a hatchback backside to fit your cargo. Its magical how the much more cargo you can fit in a hatchback in comparison to a sedan trunk.

Impreza's hatchback model is roughly the same size as its sedan counterpart, unlike the Corolla and other models whose hatchback versions are smaller than their sedan counterparts.

Most of the other Subaru models excel in cabin space as well. I believe its to be one of the big reasons for Subaru's incredible growth.

It is a bit disappointing that Subaru isn't offering an 2022 Impreza model update. Maybe Subaru figured it would be better to delay a new model release until the chip crisis ended. It would be suck to generate excitement with the introduction of a model update than not be able to produce any cars to sell. You lose the new model bump in sales.

I am certainly considering purchasing a 2022 Impreza hatchback when they are available. I would like it in the white pearl exterior color and black leather interior with an opening sunroof. I am looking for the rubber mats for the entire floor areas since I have two boxers that go everywhere with me. As info becomes available, I would appreciate an email. Thanks.
