5 Reasons Love for Hyundai Genesis Will Spike

One of those silly surveys that gloms onto a holiday was released on Valentine's Day showing the Hyundai Genesis was tied for the honor of most-loved, near-luxury car on the market. It was tied with the Lexus ES 350, which has to be the strangest automotive odd couple ever. But there are 5 reasons love for the Genesis will make it stand alone next year.

The survey, by Strategic Vision, measured an owner's love/hate relationship with their vehicles. Heck, lets have the press release speak for itself: "Dr. Darrel Edwards, Ph.D. reports, 'We completed over a decade of research and consulting in determining how to capture the ways that people talk about their loves. We discovered that the natural language was in a ‘Love-Hate’ context with nuances in-between.' Vehicle buyers speak their minds, saying whether they Hate or Love their vehicles, or particular aspects of the vehicle and the experiences they deliver.

"According to Dr. Edwards, 'The report of Most Loved Vehicles in America captures a vehicle’s total emotional response from buyer-drivers. The industry is mature enough to actually accept ‘True Love’ as a core comprehensive, interactive and discriminating emotional response."

In other words, blah, blah, blah.

But now Hyundai has a challenge to make the 2015 Hyundai Genesis the most-loved near luxury sedan. Here are five things that could put it over the top so it's no longer tied with that bland sedan known as the ES 350.

  • It's going to be the best-looking Genesis ever and one of the best-looking sedans on the road.
  • Multi-mode all-wheel-drive availability because true sports sedans now need all-wheel-drive capability.
  • It has the more interior passenger space in its class by almost 10 cubic feet.
  • The heart of the Genesis 5.0 is the award-winning 5.0-liter Tau V8 engine producing 420 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 383 lb. ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm.
  • Genesis offers a Hyundai first, Automatic Emergency Braking, utilizing sensor fusion technology to help avoid a potential collision or reduce its impact.

That's just five of the top reasons. Surely you have more. Feel free to comment below.

I am so excited to shop this car to replace my aging 2002 Infiniti Q45. However from all the preliminary data I can find, their new AWD system named HTrac will only be paired with the V6 version, Not the V8. For me this is a huge letdown and well does change the perception of your article.

Q45 was a good car but you're right, it's getting long in the tooth. I'm with you. I hope the AWD available on the V8. That tends to be the trend to intro it on the more powerful (i.e. more profitable) model and let it work its way down. I have a message into Hyundai and will let you know what they say.

You're not going to like the response, at least initially. According to Hyundai PR guy Jim Trainor, We are launching the 5.0 V8 with rear-drive only this Spring. We are studying the potential for a performance-focused 5.0 V8 with HTRAC AWD after launch. While such a model is still under study, we think there may be market demand for such a model. Stay tuned."
So, read between the lines. I'm thinking not initially but if demand is strong enough ... Make your feelings known to your local Hyundai dealer.

Keith,

UGH, I was afraid of this and what a let down. So the people in the Northern Territories of the US are only interested in AWD but not performance? Oh well I'm going to check out the K900 as well and go from there... Thanks again.

Doc - see above. Initially, no AWD on the V8. Start pestering your local Hyundai dealer (along with all your friends). Consumer demand will determine if and when it comes.

Hate to burst ur bubble but I've already spoken with the local Kia dealer and am on first call drivers list for the K900 & I'm told v8 will be rear wheel drive only as far as he knows. I was shocked myself I haven't owned a rear wheel only sedan since 2003 when I bought my first A6 before that they were front wheel or SUVs

Thanks I'm aware the K900 will be RWD. Although I would prefer an AWD vehicle I'm not sure I want to give up performance. I'm going to test drive them all. I've been driving my Q45 since purchasing it new in 2002 only 72k miles, I work 8 minutes away. Anyway I still love it, have the premium package, very few made, 345 hp at the rear wheels, so for me the logical replacement would be the K900 ( my brother in law sells Kia @ Maroon Kia) however I was so excited to hear about the HTrac system. Oh well just have to wait and see how these models pan out.
