Corsa adds bark and bite to the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392

The 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 packs 470hp, 470lb-ft of torque and a nice healthy growl but if you want a little more power and sound, the folks at Corsa Performance Exhaust have you covered with their new Sport and Xtreme catback systems.

These new catback exhaust systems from Corsa are available for both manual and automatic transmission 2011 Challenger SRT8 392 models, and the systems feature the company’s Reflective Sound Cancellation technology. This design helps to prevent the violent grumble from filling the interior; instead sending all of the sound out the back end of the car and as the video below shows, there is very little “drone” when cruising. The goal of the Corsa Sport and Xtreme performance catback systems is to allow the driver and passengers to be able to talk or listen to the radio while still having an exhaust system that screams (literally) muscle car.

The video below provides a variety of different launches and drive-bys, offering a great example of what the mighty 6.4L Hemi sounds like when mated with the new Corsa Xtreme catback system for the 2011 Challenger SRT8 392. It makes the car a little louder and a little deeper (based on my experiences with the new Challenger SRT8) and most importantly – the straight through design allows for improved airflow and that means power. Corsa advertises that this system adds 10 horsepower and 13lb-ft of torque; effectively raising the output of the new 6.4L V8 to 480 horsepower and 483lb-ft of torque. It should be pointed out that multiple sources have found that the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 makes more than the advertised levels of power but for the sake of this article, I have used the manufacturer’s numbers…actually output and results may vary.

Finally, Corsa puts a great deal of effort into making sure that their aftermarket exhaust systems look great and with these new systems for the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, they offer their rectangular GTX2 tips. These are bright silver with a 2-in-1 design to add a little retro feel to the modern muscle car.

The video below shows the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 in action with the Corsa Xtreme catback system (with a manual transmission) but Corsa offers similar systems for the 2011 Challenger R/T, the 2011 Dodge Charger R/T and the 2011 Chrysler 300C, all of which are powered by the 5.7L Hemi V8. Corsa really needs to make a more aggressive exhaust system, the gains are impressive, but the exhaust tone is not menacing enough for a 392.
