Exclusive: 2016 Acura NSX sighted on Southern California freeway

Thanks to Acura-Torque News reader Tommy Wadden, we have our first confirmed Southern California sighting of the production 2016 Acura NSX, and what a beautiful performance hybrid she is.

A few miles south of Honda, Acura headquarters in Torrance, California, is the near-beach community of Costa Mesa. I know, I grew up next door in Seal Beach. looking to Tommy Wadden’s photo of NSX grid-locked in work day traffic is a reminder of why I mo-tated north to escape Orange and L.A. county traffic. None the less, you can’t beat the Southern California weather.

I believe we’ve just caught a view of 2016 NSX on the 405 freeway, could be the Garden Grove interchange, I don’t know. In this instance the NSX is most likely driving in electric-only, regenerative-braking mode; silent as a cat creeping up on a grasshopper. Unleashing its 580 horsepower turbocharged, 3 motor SH-AWD isn’t going to happen here.

Acura is undertaking a cross-country real-world shake down of NSX systems in a righteous quest of post production quality and reliability. Unfortunately, they won’t be piloting NSX into the Pacific Northwest where I hang my coat. So in the meantime, I’ll rely on Acura press updates and readers like tommy to keep me posted on NSX sightings and developments.

Heck, it may have been Sage Marie out on a coffee run for all that I know. Catch our coverage of 2016 NSX at Pebble beach next week, with the “First Drive” review of the substantially refreshed 2016 Honda Accord. Acura has promised us a NSX ride in the not-too distant future, we’re looking forward to it.

It's great to catch a live image of Acura's most technically advanced NSX produced to date.

I saw the same red NSX going southbound on the 405 freeway on Thursday, August 7, 2015 sitting in traffic. I blew by on my motorcycle, but it looked very nice.

Thanks Tyrone, Yes, we've been teased with a photo of NSX sitting at the Torrance headquarters parking garage. As you state, nice looking. It's great to see 2016 NSX out on surface streets; a true indicator of a release to market in late 2015.

I only saw one NSX. It was stuck in slow moving traffic on the strip in Las Vegas. I took a picture but don't know how to post it on this site. You can see the picture on my facebook page. PS Some kids in a Honda were following the car a took alot of pictures.
