"There Will Never Be Another Car Like This, If You Could Even Call It a Car - And Will Be a Collab With SpaceX - And a 0-60 MPH Time < 1 Second" Says Elon Musk About the Upcoming New Tesla Roadster

Elon Musk just shared that Tesla has radically increased the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster. What this new design will be is anybody's guess, but it should likely be very impressive.

New Tesla Roadster - Design Being Radically Increased

The New Tesla Roadster is likely going to be the most impressive vehicle ever made. This is going to be even great, as Elon Musk has just shared via X that this car will be unlike any other - if you can even call it a car. Elon also shared that it will be a collab with SpaceX.

Elon has also shared that production design will be complete and unveiled at the end of this year, 2024, and that Tesla is aiming to ship it next year.

He thinks it has a shot at being the most mind-blowing product demo of all-time.

Even more shocking about the New Tesla Roadster is that Elon Musk responded to an X comment from Sawyer Merritt, who asked if Tesla would target a 0-60 mph time of ~1 second with the fastest spec.

Elon's response was that it would do 0 to 60 mph in less than 1 second, making it launch like a literal rocket on wheels.

To further add to the intrigue, Elon also said that the speed would be the least interesting part and that, "you will love the new Roadster more than your house."

However, it's important to note that the new Tesla Roadster was unveiled in November 2017, so it will release about 8 years after that unveil, making it the latest of Tesla's projects to release after an unveiling.

New Tesla Roadster Design

For the new Tesla Roadster to do less than 1 second in a 0 to 60 mph, it is going to have to use a SpaceX rocket of some sort and be lifted off of the ground.

I just don't see how the car will go that fast without something like that - or it will have special tires that are able to "rip" right off that bat in acceleration to go that fast.

It will also be interesting to see what kind of fuel the SpaceX rocket thruster uses. Most likely, this thruster will replace the back seats of the vehicle in order to give it its ~1 second 0 to 60 mph time.

Elon Musk and Tesla use first principles thinking when designing products and in this case, they are likely going to examine the laws of physics and see what is possible in terms of speed, friction, and gravity in order to get the fastest acceleration time on a vehicle ever recorded.

This new Tesla Roadster surely is going to be one of the most unique and impressive cars ever made if it achieves this acceleration feat.

I still don't think it will have 620 miles of range, as shown during its unveiling, but have a running bet on LinkedIn with someone who says that it will. I'll be sure to share whether I won or lost that bet.

The focus of this vehicle is going to be SPEED and being COOL.

However, there were many promises with the Cybertruck that didn't happen, such as price and range, so one must always temper their expectations. Then again, there were many pleasant surprises with the Cybertruck that happened, too, like its epic sound system and its steer-by-wire and 48 volt architecture.

As more information comes in on the new Tesla Roadster, I'll be sure to share and update!
