The Surprising Shift That's Taking Place At Subaru Of America Now

What are the most popular Subaru models now? A report from Edmunds says there's only one model in the top twenty. It's different from the model most people would pick. There's something unexpected going on now.

There's an unexpected shift taking place at Subaru of America. According to a recent report from Edmunds, the most popular Subaru models say there's only one Subaru vehicle: not the 2024 Subaru Outback, 2024 Crosstrek, or 2024 Subaru Forester. It’s the Solterra EV.

I cover the most popular and researched models report to give customers an idea of which Subaru models are hot. It can help when you look for a new Subaru vehicle. Some will be harder to find than others.

The first most popular Subaru on the Edmunds website is the 2023 Solterra. Most would think it would be the top-selling Outback. The Outback doesn’t show up until number 23.

A recent report from Automotive News (by subscription) is revealing.

Jeff Williams, chairman of the Subaru National Retailer Advisory Board, in a recent interview, told Automotive News that the factory is forecasting that Subaru dealers should be able to double Solterra sales in 2024, plus four more EVs coming on the horizon next year.

Subaru is counting on Solterra and new electric models to impact sales significantly. The Subaru Solterra finished 2023 with 8,872 models delivered to EV customers. With the increase in new 2024 Solterra models, Subaru of America could see 17,000 Solterra sales this year.

What's next for the Solterra?

Subaru of America recently announced the 2024 Solterra is coming this spring with new upgrades.

In my recent report, I covered the four significant Solterra improvements. You can read the report here.

What is the price of the 2024 Solterra?

Each Solterra trim level increased by $120. The 2024 Solterra has three trim levels: Premium, Limited, and Touring. Pricing for the Solterra Premium trim level starts at $46,340. The Limited trim carries a starting manufacturer's suggested retail price of $49,840. The top-of-the-line Touring trim is priced at $53,340. Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,345).

When will the 2024 Subaru Solterra arrive in U.S. showrooms?

The newly updated 2024 Subaru Solterra EV will begin arriving at retailers nationwide in early 2024. Stay tuned.
