The Subaru Solterra EV Gets First Global Award, Is A Top Best Buy Pick

If you are shopping for an electric vehicle, is the Subaru Solterra an EV you should put on your list? According to a new award from Which?, the Solterra is a top pick. 

The Subaru Solterra, the brand's first all-electric vehicle, has been awarded a coveted Which? Best Buy accolade in the medium/large SUV category.

2023 Subaru Solterra is a best buy from Which?

Subaru UK says during the recently published review, Which? praised the Subaru Solterra for its assured handling, grippy all-wheel drive system, efficient power consumption, safety, and equipment levels.

In its review, Which? said, "The Solterra's design, inside and out, marks it out as something special. It is unusually comfortable, efficient, and very practical for families, and the secure all-wheel drive and excellent safety credentials mean you can drive with peace of mind."

2023 Subaru Solterra is a top EV pick

Subaru says brand reliability also scored highly as part of the testing. Overall, Subaru scored four out of five stars for the reliability of vehicles aged 0-4 years. This crowns Subaru as the most reliable car brand assessed in this 0-4 years category.

All reviews conducted by Which? and the Best Buy endorsements are based on rigorous independent laboratory tests, which measure and assess each of the most important aspects of usability and performance. The results of these expert tests are calculated and combined to create a unique overall vehicle test score.

The report says the 2023 Solterra SUV is the most advanced Subaru ever made and the first all-electric vehicle from the brand. 

What sets the Solterra apart from the other electric SUVs?

The Subaru Solterra offers standard all-wheel-drive and Subaru's X-Mode for additional all-weather and all-terrain performance. Grip control is a new function added to X-Mode's snow/dirt mode. It's like super slow-speed cruise control and has five settings controlled by a toggle switch. 

It's best used on steep, slippery hills. However, Subaru says inexperienced drivers will feel safe in the new Solterra EV on the most challenging road surfaces.

What is the price of the 2023 Solterra?

The 2023 Solterra has three trim levels: Premium, Limited, and Touring. Pricing for the Solterra Premium trim level starts at $46,615. The Limited trim carries a starting manufacturer's suggested retail price of $50,115. The top-of-the-line Touring trim is priced at $54,110. Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,225).

Customers looking for an electric SUV with standard all-wheel-drive have many options. The 2023 Subaru Solterra is now ranked the best model in the medium/large SUV category.

Who did they pay for that "award"? The solterra and its toyota twin are over priced, under performing, low range vehicles. They dont get top marks for ANYTHING. Seems a bit fishy.

The cost to replace the battery is $45000. its all or nothing. no individual cells can be replaced. while the car is fantastic to drive with excellent traction and visibility+ dual x mode + 360 degree parking view the long term TCO makes no sense whatsoever.
