Rugged Subaru “Adrenaline” Urban-Adventurer SUV Breaks Cover in Geneva

Subaru uncovered the first next-generation Subaru SUV. See what they have in mind for future urban-adventure enthusiasts.

Subaru Corporation is planning on keeping the brand focused on outdoor adventure if the new Subaru VIZIV Adrenaline SUV is any indication of what Subaru has in mind for the future. It has broken cover at the 89th Geneva International Motor Show today. It’s a concept vehicle, but it shows customers what they can expect in the near future. All-wheel-drive vehicles with a “go-anywhere” attitude has given the brand success and Subaru keeps its promise to produce new “bolder” expressions in new vehicles.

This Subaru Adrenaline SUV is a result of the Japanese automaker’s new President, Tomomi Nakamura, changing things up at Subaru and he seems to be listening to customers. Subaru’s STEP plan says in their product plans and design direction, that Subaru will launch fully-redesigned versions for key models every year and enhance distinctive SUV and sports models. It says, “We will evolve Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” design identity to a “bolder” expression.

Subaru’s new “BOLDER” design philosophy

This is good news for adventure enthusiasts looking to get away from civilization. This small all-wheel-drive SUV has a new raked roof that Subaru has been reluctant to use because of its core value of building visibility into their
SUVs. This would be a departure from past vehicles, but this new Subaru SUV is the first concept vehicle designed under Subaru’s new “BOLDER” design philosophy. Subaru says It features a unique roof design, which reinforces the body structure, as well as body protectors. The white accents going through the wheels to rugged all-terrain tires “emphasize the feel like outdoor gears.”

Subaru did not reveal what powers the new VIZIV Adrenaline SUV but the new Subaru Global Platform allows for many different drivetrains that can offer gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric power. Subaru also brought a new European-spec Forester and Crosstrek to the Geneva Motor Show with the “e-Boxer” power unit utilizing 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed direct injection engine and an electric motor integrated into the Lineartronic transmission.

The new VIZIV (Vision for Innovation) Adrenaline SUV has a toughness and agility that has brought the brand success. Subaru moves forward with its core value of building small, fun-to-drive all-wheel-drive vehicles for a new generation of urban-adventure enthusiasts. This sporty Subaru SUV design has new “bolder” expression.
