Revealed: 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Color Choices and Price Options

Work for Torque News, follow on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.

Find out all color options and prices for soon-to-be-available 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime. Did your favorite color make the list?

We are learning more and more details about the exciting 2021 RAV4 Prime. Toyota recently surprised many of us by revealing some specifications that are better than originally announced. The gas mileage is greater, acceleration is faster, and travel distance is longer.

I think of Six Million Dollar Man theme – “Better. Stronger. Faster.”

We originally thought the 0-60 time would be 5.8 seconds, but it is now 5.7 seconds. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime mpg is now rated at 94 MPGe instead of 90 MPGe. Plus, drivers can now travel 42 miles on one single electric charge. This number was first projected at 39 miles.

This is all pretty energizing news. Especially if you are hoping to get your name on the waiting list for one.
Vehicle colors are important too, though. Right?

2021 RAV4 Prime colors

When new models are created from current models, we expect an overlap of certain features and characteristics.

Take vehicle color choices. For example, Camry Hybrid offers owners the same color options as Camry gasoline versions. This applies to RAV4 Hybrid compared to RAV4 gas trim levels as well.

So where does Toyota RAV4 Prime fit into this?

Expect to choose from 7 different colors when picking out your ideal 2021 RAV4 Prime. These will be divided between SE and XSE sport trims.

For those interested in RAV4 Prime SE, you will have the most colors available. Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, Silver Sky Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Blueprint, and Supersonic Red.

XSE is unique from SE in that is comes standard with a black roof, giving owners a sporty two-tone look. It will look a lot like RAV4 XSE Hybrid.

Choose from Blizzard Pearl / Black Roof, Silver Sky / Black Roof, Blueprint / Black Roof, Supersonic Red / Black Roof, and Magnetic Gray Metallic / Black Roof.

Midnight Black Metallic is not offered in XSE. I suspect the logic is the two-tone look would not be as dramatic as other options with a black on black combination.

Time for your thoughts on 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime specs

As I do my 2021 RAV4 Prime review of highlights and features, I get more excited as we await its official retail release. 302 horsepower. Better gas mileage than just about any other Toyota ever made. I cannot wait. Many people cannot wait. The demand for RAV4 Prime is going to be insane.

With RAV4 Prime price philosophy recently announced as well, buyers will have a tough choice on their hands. RAV4 Prime SE price starts at $38,100 and RAV4 Prime XSE price is $41,425. These prices do not include shipping / delivery to dealerships across the country.

Do you think you will be an SE or XSE customer? What colors jump out at you initially as ones to consider? How do you feel about the two-tone black roof?

Most importantly, will you be in line to buy one when they are available?

Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story when I give tips on how to get your RAV4 Prime faster.

As I just posted on the last article (didn’t see this had been updated), I think the availability issue is the sticking point for me. If dealers are getting large markups on these, it isn’t worth it right now. I have a conventional RAV4 hybrid reserved and will probably stick with that.

I think that this will be a huge seller for Toyota. The $7,500 federal subsidy brings the final price close to $30K, which is very close to the Honda CR-V hybrid, and the RAV4 Hybrid, which lack the RAV4 Prime's performance and importantly it's plug-in hybrid, EV-only capability. I think that the biggest EV crossover competition will be from the Nissan Ariya (due in July), which is a pure electric crossover, with even faster acceleration, and 300 EV miles of range, at around the same price. The RAV4 Prime has more of a traditional SUV look, and it's PHEV capability will make it a safe bet for someone who wants an economical EV crossover, but is not ready for a battery-only choice.

FYI, the Rav4 Prime does not qualify for the $7.5k Federal Tax Credit. That's reserved for 100% EVs like a Tesla or Chevy Bolt.

Regular hybrids get nothing.

Plug-in hybrids that charge a battery for better economy but CANNOT drive without using their gas motor get $2.5k.

Plug-in hybrids (PHEV) that CAN drive on only electric/no ICE motor, get $4.5k. This would include the Prime models... Still relevant, but not as enticing.

Are you certain of that? Everything I've read up to this point states that it's dependent on battery size, not the presence of an ICE. Can you provide a reference/link I can read? Thanks

Google "rav4 prime tax incentive" and you'll find a lot of sites saying the RAV4 Prime DOES qualify for the full $7,500 US federal tax incentive. I'm talking to a local dealer about this vehicle and he assured me it was eligible for the full $7,500.

actually the tax credit on BEVs & PHEVs is based on the battery size this is why vehicles like the Chevrolet Volt, BMW i3 Rex, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Honda Clarity among others get the full tax credit regardless of how the ICE assist on any performance, they all got batteries that meet or exceed 16kwh total capacity. & given the Rav4 Prime's EV range & efficiency it would need at least ~15.5 kwh usable capacity so add a .5kwh buffer and the Rav4 Prime gets the full credit! If not at least $~7000

Will probably spend the extra $50/mo. for the upper trim, but need to do more research on the differences.

When/if we get one depends largely on what other automakers have released or coming soon when we're able to find a Rav4 Prime at a reasonable price... We won't be paying dealer markup just to get it a few months early.

Have been on the waiting list for a XLE hybrid, tempted to cancel and go for the prime , but I’ve already been waiting close on 3 months for the hybrid ( wife wanted a particular color and interior). I’d go with the rocket red or super white SE, not keen on black roof, looks cool, but will make the interior warmer.

You are right JP. Thanks for clarifying. But $4,500, plus state subsidies ($2,500 in CA) still get the price very close to the RAV4 Hybrid, and CR-V Hybrid, and I would definitely pay the difference for the plug-in hybrid EV version.

As to battery size for rebate, Auto123 says it’s 17.8 kWh. Not sure how reliable that is because the article is dated back to November when the vehicle debuted but I don’t believe that information was released at the time.

I've been trying to find out what the ground clearance on this vehicle will be and can't get that spec anywhere. Can you help? Thanks!

JP didn't clarify. He/she provided misinformation. It's the full $7,500 rebate because of the Prime's battery size.

Fully loaded Prime is still too much though. Toyota is taking advantage of our federal tax credit.
