You may be surprised by these just-announced Supra models and engines. This 2021 Supra just may be the one for you.

Toyota held a press conference this afternoon at Daytona International Speedway to talk about changes coming for the 2021 Toyota Supra. What did they mean by changes, though? After all, Supra just made its return to the public for the 2020 model.

I get it now, however, as they opened up their announcement by talking about “kaizen” – one of Toyota’s core principles. Meaning “continuous improvement” or “change for better.” Things started to fall into place for me immediately.

Let’s break it down.

More power for 2021 GR Supra

The 2021 Supra will have more power for those drivers yearning for faster acceleration. This new model year offers 382 horsepower and 368 lb.-ft. torque, up from 335 and 365 last year. It now has a “Toyota-official” 0-60 times of 3.9 seconds, an improvement from 4.1 seconds in 2020.

Supra carries over its turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine and 8-speed automatic transmission from last year.

Limited Edition 2021 Supra A91

If you see a blue 2021 Supra driving around town that you may not quite recognize, it may be the all-new 2021 Supra A91. This is a limited edition Supra, meaning only 1,000 will be produced. It will be available in Nocturnal Black and “new-for-2021” Refraction Blue. A91 will also feature the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine.

To further accent its uniqueness, look for one-of-a-kind black carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, black Alcantara leather-trimmed seats with blue stitching, matte black wheels, carbon fiber mirror caps and black C-pillar graphics.

Are you about to say 4-cylinder Supra, Jeff?

Actually, yes I am. We are probably familiar with 2020 Supra 3.0 and 3.0 Premium. We also probably have a good idea about pricing for these trim levels. What if, just what if, a potential buyer wants a Supra but does not need all that power and certainly not the price tag that comes with it?

Ladies and gentlemen, meet 2021 Supra 2.0.

I find it fascinating that Toyota created a way to bridge the gap between a Toyota 86 and a Supra 3.0 - both in power and in price. The 2021 Supra 2.0 features (if the name didn’t give it away already) a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine producing 255 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. It should also come with a fun, nimble and light driving experience, as it will weigh just over 3,000 pounds (3,181 to be exact).

It will accelerate from 0-60 in 5.0 seconds and utilize the same 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters we are used to with 2020 Supra.

Although pricing is not yet announced, during the press conference Toyota teased that buyers would find pricing for this 2.0 very attractive.

Time for your thoughts on 2021 Supra
