In the land of performance flagship sedans, the Volkswagen group has two models to fill this niche.

In one corner is the Audi S8 Plus which packs a twin-turbo 4.0L V8 with 605 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. In the other corner is the Porsche Panamera Turbo that features a turbocharged 4.8L V8 with 520 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque (568 when the overboost function comes in). Despite the Audi having more horses under the hood, it is only 0.1 seconds faster to 60 mph than the Porsche (3.8 vs. 3.9 seconds).

Here are some other information to take into consideration

  • Torque peaks faster in the Audi (1,750 rpm vs. 2,250 for the Porsche)
  • Panamera Turbo is slightly lighter than the S8 Plus (4,343 vs. 4,387 pounds)
  • Both models have all-wheel drive

Which brings us to this video. Top Gear Poland decided to see which one would be faster in a drag race. The results to say in the least are startling.
