Fuel Economy Rating Leaked for 2018 Honda Civic Type-R

Granted, when considering the purchase of a $40,000, 300 horsepower performance hatchback, very few buyers lose any sleep over fuel economy. But then again, this is the 2018 Honda Civic Type-R.

As the Honda loyal debate over fuel economy ratings, and what their custom tuner, or out of the box, club racer should average on a gallon of unleaded, the boys at Civic X stumble upon the latest EPA rated fuel economy for the soon to arrive high performance 2018 honda Civic Type-R. It’s much higher than I anticipated, and will certainly vary by the way one drives their pocket rocket.

2.0 Liter, turbocharged, direct injected, 4 cylinder gas, 6-speed manual transmission.

Although not listed as Civic Type-R on the government E.P.A. website, the crew at Civic X make the assumption that the 2.0 Liter Turbo listed is the Type-R. Could be. Those are pretty decent numbers for Honda’s pinnacle factory street racer, and of course your fuel economy will vary depending on the way you smash through the 6-speed manual gearbox -- road conditions, weather, and fuel formulations. For those of you looking for decent performance, reasonable price, and fuel efficiency out of a fun to drive, good looking imported 5-door hatchback, 2017 Honda Civic hatchback sport, may be the best Honda option for you.
