Automakers are raising destination fees to make extra profit, adding significant costs to a new car. A recent study from Consumer Reports says Subaru has four models with the least expensive destination and delivery fees of any new vehicle. You can check out the most expensive and least expensive car destination charges here.

The CR report says the 2022 Subaru BRZ sports coupe, 2022 Subaru Impreza, 2022 Subaru Legacy, and 2022 Subaru WRX have the least expensive destination and delivery fees ($995) of any new car. How do the 2022 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent, and other new models compare with other car brands?

An Automotive News report in 2021 (by subscription) reveals the car brands with the highest delivery and destination fees. The company is formerly known as Fiat Chrysler, and now Stellantis has the highest costs of any brand in America. Subaru raised its destination and delivery fees for the 2022 Forester, 2022 Outback, and 2022 Crosstrek, but not as much as some car brands.

Subaru has kept their fees the lowest of any automaker from 2017 through the 2021 model change except for one brand, BMW. Subaru's average fee is $996 for its 2021 model year average on all vehicles. Stellantis charges the most at $1,573 per vehicle in its lineup.

How much are the 2022 model year fees?

The 2022 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent all have destination and delivery fees of $1,175. While the costs have gone up in 2022, Subaru has increased its fees 18 percent in five years compared with Ford and Porsche, who have raised destination fees the most at 29 percent.

Kelly Blue Book says destination charges have gone up faster than inflation. The average industry fee is $1,220 and has risen 12 percent since 2017. Subaru's dealer costs are still below the average of all car brands.

Can customers negotiate destination and delivery fees?

Unfortunately, destination and delivery fees are non-negotiable. They are added to the final price of every vehicle. Consumer Reports says the fees are not included in advertising and often take buyers by surprise.

When Subaru Report via Torque News gives pricing on any new Subaru model, we always include destination fees in our reports, so customers know the actual price.

While designation and delivery fees have gone up for the 2022 models, Subaru vehicles are consistently among the lowest in their categories. The 2022 Subaru BRZ, 2022 Subaru Impreza, 2022 Subaru Legacy, and 2022 Subaru WRX have the least expensive destination and delivery fees for any new car.

The 2022 Subaru Outback, 2022 Subaru Forester, 2022 Subaru Crosstrek, and 2022 Ascent have the lowest destination fees in their category.
