Subaru of America uncovered the 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness as it made its global debut today. The Forester joins the Subaru Wilderness sub-brand as the automaker strives to improve on its off-road image. The Forester Wilderness is now the second rugged model to join the lineup, and the compact SUV will be a huge hit with outdoor enthusiasts.

The Forester Wilderness was supposed to be a secret but information leaked by the EPA earlier this year revealed the new model’s drivetrain. Forester Wilderness is powered by a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated Boxer engine produceing182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque.

What is the price of the 2022 Forester Wilderness?

The Forester Wilderness has a starting price of $33,945, including destination and delivery fees.

The 2022 Forester Wilderness comes with 9.2-inch ground clearance, a half-inch increase over the other Forester models, longer coil springs and shock absorbers, and special tuning for improved ride and handling performance with the increased height.

The Forester Wilderness comes equipped with Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires mounted on new 17-inch alloy wheels in a matte black finish; the tires are embossed with raised white letters. A standard full-size tire under the cargo area.

The Forester Wilderness adds new exterior styling with an all-new front fascia with a hexagonal front grille, more prominent wheel arch cladding, front skid plate, unique hexagonal LED fog lights, and an anti-glare hood decal in matte-black finish.

Inside, the rugged SUV comes with water-resistant StarTex seating surfaces. Outside, a ladder-type roof rack with an increased load capacity to 220 lb. and can support up to 800 lb. when parked, a capacity increase allows for larger roof tents.

The Wilderness compact SUV now offers up to 3,000-lb. towing capacity and features standard Trailer Stability Assist.

One option package for the 2022 Wilderness includes the Subaru Starlink 8.0-inch Multimedia Navigation system, Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a rear power gate. The option package has an MSRP of $1,850.

Contrary to rumors, I Don’t see “Eyesight X” for 2022 Forester. Maybe chip shortage stopped it.
