Subaru released a new 2024 Subaru Forester STI Sport with a new Black Interior Selection. It's only for Japanese customers; U.S. customers can only look at it and not touch it. See what you get instead for the 2025 model upgrade.

Subaru Corporation announced an all-new 2024 Subaru Forester STI Sport Black Interior Selection. Of course, Subaru doesn't offer it in the U.S.; it's only for Japanese customers. You can look, but you can't touch.

Subaru says, "The smooth and comfortable Nappa leather seats, door trims, and console are covered in black, and together with the roof and trim, the entire space is coordinated with a high-quality, fearless black color."

I've covered the Forester STI Sport before

The 2024 Forester STI Sport is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged direct-injection (DIT) four-cylinder, lean combustion Boxer engine. It produces 175 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque.

Subaru says the new Forester improves driving performance and handling with its new STI tuning damper. The Forester STI Sport comes equipped with suspension tuning developed by STI with a Hitachi Astemo Sensitive Frequency Response Front Damper (SFRD).

Forester STI Sport also has custom black 18-inch aluminum wheels, a multi-information dash display, black Nappa leather seats with red stitching, and STI badging on the front and rear.

But the STI Sport Black Interior Selection Is A Cut Above

Subaru says, "We created a special interior further highlighting the STI Sport's high quality and sporty appeal."

What Sporty Forester Option Do U.S. Customers Get?

The Forester Sport trim is the closest U.S.-spec 2024 Forester equivalent to the Japan-spec STI Sport. It has a 2.5-liter engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. There is no turbocharged engine option.

Performance Enthusiasts Want More

You remember the Forester XT. Subaru discontinued the sporty model in 2019, but it's not coming back. Subaru introduced the remodeled 2025 Forester Sport, and here's what U.S. customers get.

The All-New 2025 Forester Sport

Subaru says, "With unique styling elements and exceptional curb appeal, the 2025 Subaru Forester Sport stands out as a stylish SUV for $34,495. The Forester Sport adds 19-inch alloy wheels with a bronze finish, a gloss black front grille, a rear "Sport" badge with a bronze finish, and chrome and bronze side badges. Inside, the Forester Sport adds gray StarTex upholstery with brown stitching, dark gray dash panel, and a unique bronze steering wheel insert."

"To further support drivers, the Forester Sport upgrades to dual-function X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Steering, and 8-speed manual shift mode with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. In addition to the enhanced styling, the Forester Sport delivers sharper handling with a re-tuned suspension, improving driving stability while retaining ride comfort."

The Forester Sport Option Package

A Forester Sport option package includes a Harman Kardon premium audio system with a 576-watt equivalent amp and 11 speakers, a power rear gate, Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking, and SI-Drive Engine Performance Management (Intelligent and Sport Sharp modes). The cost? $1,700.

When Will The 2025 Forester Sport Arrive?

Subaru says all new 2025 Forester trims arrive in late spring 2024. Stay tuned.

The 2024 Subaru Forester STI Sport Black Interior Selection is only for Japanese customers. U.S. customers can only look at it, not touch it.
