The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is again the star in the lineup for Subaru of America. Check out the hot Crosstrek results in June, even without a remodel.

The Subaru Crosstrek is due for a remodel, but Subaru of America (SOA) doesn't have to bring the next-generation model yet. The Crosstrek subcompact SUV is selling too well, even without a remodel. SOA reported the hot Crosstrek is the top performer in the all-wheel-drive lineup.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek continues to sizzle hot with 10,675 subcompact SUVs delivered to customers in June. That's a massive 66.4 percent increase over June 2021 sales (6,415). Crosstrek is the second best-selling all-wheel-drive model for SOA, with 70,050 models delivered to customers through the first six months compared with 64,214 sold in 2021.

Crosstrek is one of the few models with a sales increase in 2022, up 9.1 percent this year. The Ascent 3-Row SUV is the only other Subaru SUV up in 2022 (+9.0%).

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek should have received a complete remodel, but Subaru Corporation decides to continue with the second-generation Crosstrek model with no upgrades. Subaru of America does get a new Special Edition Crosstrek for the 2023 model year.

Subaru Corporation can wait because the Crosstrek is still Subaru of America's hottest-selling model. In a year where there are plant shutdowns, supply chain issues, and microchip shortages, Subaru has chosen to put a hold on the third-generation model.

What sets the Crosstrek apart?

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV rides higher with extra ground clearance (8.7-inches) than other small SUVs, and all trim levels come standard with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive.

The Sport and Limited trims also have a new dual-function X-Mode for added off-pavement capabilities. The new system has settings for Snow and Dirt mode to the new Deep Snow/Deep Mud Mode and is best for sand where traction is compromised.

Crosstrek gets excellent fuel mileage

The CVT models achieve EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28/33 city/highway and 30 combined mpg. The 6-speed manual models are rated 22/29 city/highway and 25 combined mpg. The 2.5-liter Boxer engine achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27/34 city/highway and 29 combined mpg.

Should customers wait for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek?

There is no advantage to waiting as all 2023 Subaru Crosstrek trim levels get a $600 price increase, including destination and delivery fees. Dealer fees increased by $50 for 2023 Crosstrek trims.

The 2023 Crosstrek base trim is priced from $24,870, Premium, ($26,020), Special Edition ($27,970), Sport ($29,220), Limited ($30,720) and Crosstrek Hybrid ($38,070). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,225).

When will the third-generation Subaru Crosstrek arrive?

The remodeled Crosstrek has been put on hold, and customers will have to wait another year.

Before the next-generation Crosstrek arrives, the 2022 models are selling as fast as U.S. retailers can get them. The unchanged 2023 Crosstrek subcompact SUV will begin arriving at Subaru showrooms this summer.

I bought a Crosstrek and LOVE it! My sister liked mine so much she now has one. I would Definetly buy again and the Subaru dealership is very easy to deal with.

This is a mistake. This is not 2019 anymore. The competition has upped their game:

Toyota has introduced the Corolla Cross.

Honda's has upgraded the HRV. Previously built on the smaller Fit platform. It is now built on the Civic platform.

Kia is refreshing the Seltos in 2023.

The subcompact crossover SUV category is now a very crowded field, yet Subaru is still trying to sell the 2nd generation Crosstrek introduced in 2017.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my 2015 cross trek. Getting 34-35 mpg on highway with cruise control set at 65mph. Even better after fresh oil change.
